The Melitta Avanza Series 600 (F270-100) is a slim, simple bean-to-cup machine. It has a quiet conical steel grinder, real buttons and a dial, and an Easy Cappuccinatore milk tube that froths milk straight into the cup. Owners and Trusted Reviews rate the espresso and coffee highly and find it easy to use. The milk system is basic, though: no carafe, results vary with milk temperature, and the tube needs regular cleaning. The drip tray and grounds bin need emptying often. It suits coffee-first households with limited counter space who are happy to froth milk in a separate step. If you want one-touch lattes or many drink options, look elsewhere. Some owners report faults within months or a few years, and no independent long-term reliability data was found. New stock is now hard to find in the UK, so check availability and the two-year warranty before buying.

Some owners report faults (grinder, leaks) and a plasticky build
Show all (5)
Unmarked volume dial, and the temperature setting is easy to miss

Who is it for, and who is it not for?
Good for
Espresso, americano and occasional cappuccino drinkers who want fresh-ground coffee with minimal fuss
Small kitchens where counter width is limited
First-time bean-to-cup buyers on a budget
May not suit
Households that mainly drink milky drinks and want one-touch lattes or a milk carafe
It is a compact single-boiler (thermoblock) bean-to-cup machine: 1450 W, 15 bar, 1.5 l water tank, 250 g bean hopper, conical steel grinder with 5 grind settings, 3 strength levels and 3 brew temperatures. The water dial is stepless, from 25 to 220 ml.
Milk is frothed by an Easy Cappuccinatore, a tube that draws milk from your own container and froths it into the cup. There is no milk carafe, no warm-milk-only option and no automatic steam cleaning of the milk parts. It makes one preset coffee recipe, and both drinks are made one after the other rather than as a one-touch latte.
Trusted Reviews found it simple to use and easy to clean, and said it makes great espresso. The espresso came out at about 68C and the crema lasted almost two minutes.
Trusted Reviews called the milk frothing basic: it produced something closer to a flat white than a frothy cappuccino, and the milk tube drips with nowhere to park it. The unmarked volume dial makes setting the coffee volume guesswork. No water filter comes in the box.
UK owners on Amazon, AO and eBay most often praise the coffee itself: flavour, crema and, for several, hotter coffee than their previous machine. Some note that bean choice and dialling in the grind matter.
Owners describe it as easy to set up and use, with useful control over strength, grind and temperature. One reviewer points out that you need the instructions to get into the setup menu.
A minority of UK Amazon reviews report faults or build-quality worries: a grinder that stopped working at six months (repaired under warranty), plastic that distorted and leaked after about three years, a leak after descaling that Melitta repaired as a build fault, and glossy plastic described as flimsy.
Owners disagree on the milk frother. Some find it quick, easy and hot enough with milk straight from the fridge. One found fridge-cold milk came out lukewarm, and another called the frother poor and fragile.
Owners say it needs daily attention. The drip tray and grounds container fill after a few cups, partly because the rinse cycle empties into the tray. The milk tube must be taken apart and cleaned, and the brew unit rinsed weekly. Some also note that it uses a lot of beans.
New stock is scarce in the UK. Amazon.co.uk shows the machine as currently unavailable. AO is out of stock with a 'back in stock soon' notice. Harts of Stur marks it out of stock and discontinued. Argos, Currys and John Lewis do not list it, and Melitta UK's current bean-to-cup range page no longer includes it.
Melitta lists a removable brew unit, automatic cleaning and descaling programmes, water-hardness setting, water filter compatibility with a change indicator, an energy-saving mode and a passive cup warmer.

Owners mostly like the coffee: good flavour and crema, and several find it hotter than their previous machine once the grind and beans are dialled in. They describe it as simple to use, quiet and slim enough for small kitchens, and often call it good value for a bean-to-cup machine. Opinions on the milk tube are split. Some find it quick and hot enough with fridge-cold milk; others get lukewarm milk or find the frother fragile. The main worries are durability (a grinder failure at six months, leaks after descaling or after a few years, glossy plastic that feels flimsy) and daily upkeep: the drip tray and grounds bin fill quickly, the milk parts need cleaning, and it uses a lot of beans.

It just makes better coffee! Has excellent adjustability for both coffee strength, coarseness, water temperature, cup size etc etc. It lovely and quite when working and auto turns off (again you can programme how long it stays on for)

Whilst this made fantastic coffee, while it lasted, it’s not built to last. Was well over £300 on purchase and is almost 100% plastic. Lasted 3 years. Yep that’s £100 per year. As any fool knows, heat and plastic do not make good bed fellows. The plastic distorts over time causing major leakage. It costs a lot to maintain too. Filters, cleaning tablets and decalc liquid. If I had known all this the upkeep seems hardly worth the investment. Buy if your not expecting a long lasting solution

Update at 6 months. Grinder stopped working. Melitta agreed a repair but their third party repairer hasn’t been able to complete it within timescales agreed. Then it needs a part but no idea of when it will arrive.…

We like our coffee hot, which is a problem with this machine and many others from what I read. There is a brew heat setting, we have this on max, and the coffee itself is hot. Not scalding. Milk is the problem. Straight from fridge, it produces luke warm milk.…

I love the consistency of results and when using milk the Cuppacinaire wand makes frothing the milk a doddle. I find the milk is hot enough even when used straight from the fridge which is what the machine was designed to use. Also you are not having to measure and tamp a coffee puck as this machine does it all for you.

Minuses, high gloss flimsy plastic that will mark even with cleaning .the hopperneeds a healthy amount of beans to operate, so if you alternate with de caff this could be a problem, the milk frothy is really poor, a knock or heavy handiness will destruct it.

I have maybe 2-3 cups per day - so it's a daily chore emptying the tray and taking the milk frother bits apart & cleaning. The internal bean-grinding mechanism needs removed from the machine every week to wash under a tap. None of the cleaning is difficult to do, and hindsight, hardly surprising - but just don't fall under the illusion that a "bean-to-cup" machine is a hassle-free way of making coffee.

I’m revising my review after service from Melitta. Which was excellent BTW, so thanks to the guys there! The fault described below was logged as a build fault so assume that there was a loose connection in the pipes behind the dispenser. It was fixed and has been 100% fine since.…

Much quieter than our previous Delonghi machine but takes a bit longer to produce a cup of coffee. Easy to clean and good auto clean features. Love the milk frother which dispenses straight to the cup. The large capacity water tank and bean hopper are very useful. Overall very happy.
