The Gaggia Magenta Prestige is a compact, Italian-made bean-to-cup machine with an integrated milk carafe, 12 one-touch drinks (13 on Over Ice versions), a ceramic grinder, a removable brew group and automatic cleaning. Owners praise hot, good-tasting coffee, well-frothed milk and easy upkeep. Drawbacks are small milk drinks, a carafe sized for light milk use, a more plasticky build than premium rivals, and only 5 grind settings with no user profiles. In the UK it is sold by coffee specialists rather than big chains, and warranty varies by seller, so choose the UK RI8702/01 or EG6603 version. It suits one or two people wanting simple espresso and milk drinks in a small space. No independent UK test was found, so long-term reliability is uncertain.
Before you buy
What the features mean in everyday use.
The UK black model is RI8702/01 (EAN 8710103952299). UK specialists also sell grey variants under codes EG6603/40 (Grey On Ice) and EG6603/90 (Glazed Grey, listed as Silver).
It has an integrated 0.5 l milk carafe that Gaggia says froths milk twice, cleans its milk circuit automatically and can be stored in the fridge. Cappuccino, latte macchiato, flat white and similar drinks are made at one touch.
It has 12 pre-set drinks (13 on Over Ice versions), adjustable coffee length, three temperature levels, 5 aroma and 5 grind settings, and a memo function to save settings. There are no user profiles.
It is compact for a milk-carafe bean-to-cup machine: about 22.5 cm wide, 36 cm high and 43.5 cm deep, weighing 7.7 kg, with a 1.8 l water tank and a 15-puck grounds container.
Rinsing, milk-circuit cleaning and descaling are automatic or guided. The brew group is removable and can be rinsed under the tap. The machine is compatible with the Intenza+ water filter.
John Lewis, Currys and Argos do not stock it. In the UK it is sold mainly by coffee specialists, and the warranty depends on the seller: Coffee-Direct offers a 5-year Gaggia warranty (2 years parts and labour plus 3 years parts), Mr Bean2Cup 3 years, Caffè Italia 2 years and Coffee Friend 24 months.
Most owners whose reviews were read say it makes good to excellent, properly hot coffee. Several compare it favourably with earlier Jura or Sage Oracle machines.
Owners repeatedly describe it as easy to use and keep clean, praising the clear display menus, the cleaning prompts and the removable brew unit.
Several owners praise the hot, well-frothed milk and the removable carafe. Others note that milk drinks are small (one says the flat white is 6 oz at most) and that the carafe suits light milk use better than busy, milk-heavy households.
A minority of the reviews read report milk drinks being cancelled. One Amazon reviewer reports repeated 'reservoir not seated' errors, and another says cappuccinos cancel.
One owner found it lighter and more plasticky than a Jura. In an update after two and a half years of up to 6 cups a day, the same owner said it had performed faultlessly.
A few reviewers mention the machine is noisy, though one likens it to a fast-boil kettle.
No independent UK test exists (no Which? page for this model). Amazon's AI summary flags reliability complaints such as leaks, loss of crema and the carafe not clicking in, but these come mainly from non-UK reviews that could not be read in full. Long-term reliability is therefore uncertain.
The Amazon.co.uk listing had no featured offer when checked, and its item details show the US RI8702/46 part at 110 V. Buyers should confirm they are getting the UK 230 V RI8702/01 with a UK plug and a UK warranty.
Several owners consider it good value against café coffee or pricier rivals. One non-UK reviewer called it poor value after cappuccino failures.
Compared with Gaggia's Cadorna Prestige, the Magenta Prestige has fewer drinks (12/13 against 15), 5 grind settings instead of 10, no user profiles and a smaller 0.5 l carafe. It is narrower and lighter, with a larger 1.8 l tank.

Summarised from the 15 reviews we read. A review can mention several points, so the theme counts can add up to more than 15.
Owners generally enjoy the coffee, convenient drink choices and straightforward cleaning. Milk drinks attract praise for their heat and froth, while saved settings and the slim footprint are also appreciated. Reservations include a plasticky feel compared with heavier machines, limited milk-volume adjustment for larger drinks and noticeable operating noise. The carafe can take a little practice, and an owner would prefer a larger machine for frequent milk drinks or a busy household.
Summarised from 15 reviews; 1 reviews about delivery, packaging or the seller were left out. The summary is drawn from opinions that recur in the reviews read; each theme shows how many reviews mention it. These counts are not a rate and do not apply to every unit.
Python parsed and deduplicated author+date+text: Amazon 3 UK, Caffè Italia 7, Coffee-Direct Black 4 and Grey On Ice 1 = 15. One service-only text excluded from themes; no rating-only entries counted. Amazon overseas texts excluded. Recent/critical pages blocked; sample predominantly positive. Total left null because Amazon's aggregate is international and regional versions are mixed.

b*** 5/5 20 September 2025 Amazon Black; UK review. Listing contains conflicting regional model details.
Rather expensive to buy, but makes wonderful coffee, and in the long run, much cheaper and nicer than any cafe coffee. I look forward to my black Americano with an expresso shot every morning.

Great bean to cup machine. Easy to clean too. Noisy but only like the instant boil kettles etc.
J*** w*** 5/5 6 August 2023 Amazon Black; UK review. Listing contains conflicting regional model details.
Not only does it easily make a great selection of coffees but I regularly use the milk frother option for hot chocolate and it’s amazing. Easy to use, keep clean and an overall great purchase
J*** 4/5 26 March 2022 coffeeitalia.co.uk Historical Magenta Prestige review; not evidence of the current Over Ice version.
Makes great coffee and the variety of drinks it makes is very good. I would like more customisation if milk quantities however as some of the drinks are very small (6oz max on the flat white) I’d like to be able to add more milk to it to make it an 8oz drink. However generally very happy.
J*** 4/5 23 September 2019 coffeeitalia.co.uk Historical Magenta Prestige review; not evidence of the current Over Ice version.
I bought the Gaggia Magenta Prestige as a replacement for an old Jura E6 machine which was going to cost almost £300 to repair! The Gaggia is not as well built as the Jura, which was built like a tank and was much heavier, but is easier to use and makes a wider variety of coffees, I particularly like the easily removable milk container and the easy to understand display menus.…
J*** 5/5 10 February 2023 coffeeitalia.co.uk Historical owner update; not evidence of the current Over Ice version.
This is an update after 2 1/2 years of using the Gaggia Magenta Prestige & making up to 6 cups of coffee a day. I have been most impressed with its overall performance. When I bought it I was a bit concerned that it was a bit flimsy & plasticky (compared to a previous Jura E8 machine) but the Gaggia has performed faultlessly. It is very easy to clean & consumables (such as water filters) are reasonably priced. The coffee tastes really good & it has a very intuitive user interface. When this machine eventually needs to be replaced I will definitely buy another Gaggia.
C*** 5/5 15 April 2020 coffeeitalia.co.uk Historical Magenta Prestige review; not evidence of the current Over Ice version.
Ordered this after quite a lot of research and for the price I think its exceptional. Makes great coffee and is very easy to use, the milk frother works very well and it actually makes a HOT cup of cappuccino . Overall I'm very pleased.…

Excellent. Does just what I wanted.
M*** H*** 5/5 13 November 2023 coffee-direct.co.uk black; historical review, not confirmation of Over Ice functionality
When I was looking for this machine I wanted barista style coffee but with the ease of instant and with a good bean this machine dose that there or there abouts. Maintaining the machine is a doddle add water hear and simply empty the spent coffee pucks there .it does routine cleaning its self and when more is required it asks you not forces you so you can do later .…
J*** S*** 5/5 28 September 2025 coffee-direct.co.uk Grey On Ice
Just love my new machine, have been using for a couple of weeks now. Took a small bit of getting used to the carafe system but actually it’s very easy and the milk is steamed fantastically. The drinks are piping hot and I love that you can personalise each one to how you like it then save the option. The drip tray is nice and big so not as frequent emptying as I thought and the self clean of the carafe is quick and easy. So far all my coffees have been gorgeous. I also love the stylish and sleek look of it on my worktop, very cool matte colour and slimline enough it doesn’t take up tonnes of room. Well worth the investment for excellent coffee with very little faff.

The Gaggia Magenta Prestige is a compact bean-to-cup coffee machine with an intuitive colour touchscreen and an integrated milk carafe. It offers 11 drink options, fully customizable parameters with easy memo saving, and stands out by sequencing milk and espresso brewing order authentically for each recipe. It provides high-end super-automatic features and brew temperatures at an attractive price point.
YouTube · Comparison
The Gaggia Magenta Prestige is a versatile bean-to-cup coffee machine featuring an integrated milk carafe for convenient one-touch speciality drinks. It offers comprehensive parameter customisation, automatic multi-step preparation for drinks like flat whites, and very hot brewing temperatures. A swift automatic milk-cleaning cycle also makes maintenance quick and hassle-free.
YouTube · Comparison
The Gaggia Magenta Prestige is a compact bean-to-cup machine featuring an auto-frothing milk carafe and an over-ice brewing functionality. It drops the brewing temperature significantly when making iced drinks to preserve flavour and reduce melting, while using the same high-end brew group found in premium Gaggia models. It serves as a more affordable, space-saving option compared to larger models like the Cadorna Prestige.
YouTube · Comparison
The Gaggia Magenta Prestige delivers essentially the same brewing system and milk-frothing performance as more expensive super-automatic machines at a lower price point. While it lacks multi-user profiles and features a top-loading water tank, its slim design and generous 2-litre water capacity make it an excellent choice for individuals or couples.
