The Gaggia Cadorna Prestige is an Italian-made bean-to-cup machine with an integrated, fridge-storable milk carafe, a ceramic grinder, four user profiles and up to 15 one-touch drinks. UK owners mostly praise the coffee and frothy milk drinks, the easy interface and the solid, compact build. The trade-offs are a regular cleaning routine, a water tank some find stiff at first, and occasional complaints about drink temperature. A minority of owners, mostly on Amazon, report weak coffee or reliability problems. No independent UK test or long-term reliability data was found. Buying from Gaggia UK or an authorised reseller gets a 5-year parts warranty; the Amazon listing shows the North American model code. It suits households and small offices that want café-style milk drinks at a button press and will keep up the cleaning.
Before you buy
What the features mean in everyday use.
15 bar pump, 1900 W, stainless-steel Quick Heat boiler, pre-infusion and three coffee temperature levels.
Integrated 0.6 l milk carafe for one-touch milk drinks. The manufacturer lists up to 15 beverages including flat white, cortado, XL milk drinks and an over-ice coffee; the carafe can be stored in the fridge and has an automatic cleaning cycle.
100% ceramic grinder with 10 settings, Optiaroma dose control with 5 settings, 300 g bean hopper with aroma lid, ground-coffee bypass, and 4 user profiles on a full-colour TFT display.
26 x 38 x 44 cm and 9.6 kg; 1.5 l front-removable water tank; 10-puck grounds container; spouts adjust from 70 mm (with espresso tray) to 155 mm.
Side-removable brew group that can be rinsed under the tap; automatic rinsing, milk-circuit cleaning and descaling cycles; Intenza+ water filter compatible.
Most owners whose reviews could be read praise the taste of the coffee and milk drinks; several say it rivals or beats high-street coffee shops, and owners praise the carafe's frothy milk.
Owners describe the interface as intuitive and drinks as a button press away, including first-time bean-to-cup owners and a small office.
Opinions on cleaning differ. Some owners describe the cleaning system as well thought out and easy, while others describe a weekly routine of brew-group rinsing and carafe strip-down as necessary upkeep.
Opinions on drink temperature are mixed. Several UK owners say drinks come out piping hot, but two owners wanted hotter drinks (one even on the hottest setting, one except when using the froth-milk option).
One owner (US, posted on Amazon.co.uk) returned the machine, reporting weak, watery coffee, milk splashing, water waste from rinsing, and a drip tray that filled within a day; they also note it needs non-oily beans.
Amazon.co.uk's rating breakdown includes a notable share of one-star ratings. The store's own review summary, drawn from reviews that could not be read individually, flags reliability (leaks, stopping working, the carafe not staying engaged) and cleaning complaints. Specialist UK stores' reviews are almost all positive but mostly short-term. No independent long-term reliability data was found.
In the UK it is sold through Gaggia's UK distributor store, Amazon.co.uk (seller Caffe Shop Ltd, the distributor) and coffee specialists such as Coffee Direct, Caffè Italia, Coffee Friend and Clumsy Goat. Currys and Argos did not list it.
Warranty depends on the seller. Gaggia UK's store and Coffee Direct give a 5-year warranty (Coffee Direct: 2 years parts and labour plus 3 years parts only), and Clumsy Goat gives 3 years. Amazon.co.uk, Coffee Friend and Caffè Italia list 2 years; Coffee Direct warns that cheaper imports may have no UK warranty.
The Amazon.co.uk listing's item details give model/part number RI9604/47 (the code associated with the North American version) and a US UPC, even though it is sold in GBP by Gaggia's UK distributor with a UK warranty. Buyers should check that the unit has a UK plug and 230-240 V rating.
Applies to one variant
Within the Cadorna range, the Prestige is the model with an integrated milk carafe and espresso tray. The Plus and Barista Plus use steam wands, and the Style has a classic pannarello and no espresso tray.
Owners describe the build as stylish, robust and well engineered, and some note a small worktop footprint; one UK owner was surprised how quiet it is.
Two UK owners found the water tank very hard to pull out at first. One was told by the UK supplier that it is a tight interference fit that eases after a few removals.
Several owners consider it good value, comparing it with café spending or pricier machines, though some note it is expensive.

Summarised from the 26 reviews we read. A review can mention several points, so the theme counts can add up to more than 26.
UK owners mostly praise the coffee as tasty and consistent, often better than high-street coffee shops. They like the carafe's frothy milk, and they find it very easy to use, including first-time and office users. Several mention a solid, attractive build, a compact footprint and piping-hot drinks, and some see it as good value. On cleaning, some find the system well thought out while others see the weekly brew-group and carafe clean as a chore. A few found the water tank very stiff to remove at first, and a couple wanted hotter drinks. One owner returned it over weak coffee, messy milk and water waste, and Amazon's wider feedback also points to reliability complaints (leaks, the carafe not being detected) that the specialist-store reviews do not show.

I purchased this machine in November 2024 (£700 from Gaggia UK) I was initially surprised at how quiet it was, given some reviews. I always think it important to start with good beans which suit ones pale. I really can't get excited about personalised brewing and have found the factory settings to be perfect. … even I can manage to press two buttons & hey presto perfect coffee!

Hot beautiful tasty innovative coffee. Stylish. Robust build. Sleek design. Best buy ever! Has plenty of variety at the touch of a button. 5 mins cleaning a week… no mess. My life is complete.

Excellent service and a great machine. I have replaced a De'Longhi Magnifica Evo with this machine, and in my opinion, this is a much better machine.

Really good coffee machine. Bought from Coffee direct for a good price and very quick delivery. I chose the Cadorna for the wide range of coffees available and for the simplicity of tailoring and saving the desired cup of coffee just how I like it. Initial thoughts after only having it for two weeks are, very good build quality. Easy to use and easy to clean. Brews a great cup of coffee! Hopefully it will serve me well for many years!

I was skeptical when looking at purchasing a machine for our small office as I am no coffee connoisseur but, I am very pleased with this machine. It has a small footprint but kicks off some great power with coffees coming out piping hot in full heat. Excellent machine for a great price in my opinion.

just purchased this coffee machine and very happy with my choice. Unlike some others i looked at where reviews mentioned about drinks not been hot enough or strong enough, i have had no issues with this machine

It has a great selection of coffees available, proper frothy milk, the kids love a frothy hot choccy. … I did watch umpteen amount of online videos and read reviews before choosing and no it doesn’t need cleaning every week. Leave a cup under the spout and it will self clean and let you know when it needs a deep clean, filter change or anything else. The only thing that needs cleaning is the milk carafe which is easy to dismantle and put back together but then it holds milk so it would need regular cleaning.
A*** 5/5 3 September 2020 coffeeitalia.co.uk
Expensive, but you get what you pay for. Easy to set up and use. Tasty coffee. No more Costa for me. Piping hot coffee, frothy milk. Can’t fault it. Highly recommend.
J*** K*** 5/5 7 February 2021 coffeeitalia.co.uk
The whole machination is faultless; the cleaning system is well thought out, the button options are clearly designed by people who enjoy their coffee and it is actually quite simple to use. … One initial problem was accessing the water tank but after making a quick call to the UK supplier, this was sorted; the water tank was interference fit so needed a bit of a yank to pull it out but once I realised it was sturdy enough, the problem was solved and after extracting and reinstalling it a handful of times, it became just a snug fit.

First time we have owned a coffee machine. After lots of research chose the Gaggia. Love it, makes a wide range of coffees all piping hot. Best bit is the milk caddy that you can keep in the fridge between uses.

Love my new Gaggia a replacement for a much used Gaggia Titanium that gave me many years of great coffee. New Cordonia is excellent and working well. Only very slight issue is that even on the hottest setting I would like my coffees bit hotter. But that’s just my taste

Upon receiving the machine first big surprise, you can't use any beans. You have to use non-oily beans and nothing else. … The coffee was terrible, think Keurig watery coffee but worse … The milk splashes everywhere, you have to hope it ends up your coffee cup. It's messy … Then after all the self-cleaning the drip tray is full within a day of use (with 3 coffee) and guess what ? The machine doesn't even tell you to empty it, there is a tiny red floater that is supposed to help you find out when to empty it.

He can’t believe how excellent the milk frother is - what it produces varies from steamed milk to micro foam to dense rich foam depending on what the beverage chosen calls for. … Weekly - remove brew group and rinse and sit on dish drainer overnight to dry and take apart milk frother and clean all its parts thoroughly with a slim bottle brush under running water Monthly - be willing to purchase and keep on hand Rinza and Gaggia’s brew group cleaning tablets and use 2 super easy cleaning cycles on the machine’s menu
J*** 5/5 5 December 2020 Amazon Reviewed in Canada (shown on Amazon.co.uk)
Totally awesome machine. Easy to use. I’m in love. The only caveat is that you must use the froth milk option if you want milk in your coffee as only then is it truly hot hot. Works great doing that. Large investment, but I’m very happy with it. Was excited to share this review.
C*** T*** 5/5 8 November 2022 Amazon Reviewed in the United States (shown on Amazon.co.uk)
The interface is the easiest ever, everything is touch and intuitive, and the machine guides you on how to clean etc. it's beyond amazing how easy it is to use. Delonghi makes great coffee too, but the menus are not streamlined or easy so this won at the end. (I got the prestige with the milk carafe).

Where the information comes from, by type; each finding also links its own source.
This page is compiled from manufacturer, store, review and video sources; every piece of information links to the source it was read from. Technical values are as stated by the manufacturer or store; user experiences are summarised from the reviews read and do not apply to every unit. We do not test products ourselves.
