The Gaggia Anima Deluxe RI8761/18 is a slim, Italian-made bean-to-cup machine. It has a ceramic grinder, adjustable dose and temperature, a removable brew group, and a Cappuccinatore on the steam arm that froths milk from any jug or carton. Espresso and lungo are one-touch, but milky drinks are semi-manual and there is no milk carafe. UK owners praise consistently good coffee, café-style cappuccinos and easy set-up and cleaning, and some bought a second unit. Reported downsides are foam less dense than a manual wand, a less sturdy feel than older manual Gaggias, squeaking and isolated faults. Bought via Gaggia UK or an authorised reseller, it has a 5-year part warranty. It suits espresso drinkers who make occasional milk drinks; long-term reliability is not independently established.

What the features mean in everyday use.
Milk is frothed by a Cappuccinatore fitted to the steam arm, which draws milk from any container. There are no one-touch cappuccino or latte drinks, and no milk carafe as on the Anima Prestige.
LCD and button interface with one-touch espresso, espresso lungo, frothed milk and hot water, plus steam. A memo function stores drink lengths, and two cups can be brewed at once.
100% ceramic grinder with 5 settings, Optiaroma dose with 5 settings, 3 coffee temperature levels, pre-brewing and a pre-ground coffee option.
Compact 22.1 cm wide body (22.1 x 34 x 43 cm), 8.3 kg, 1.8 l water tank, up to 15 used pucks, and a spout adjustable from 110 to 150 mm.
Removable brew group, automatic rinsing, automatic guided descaling and Intenza+ water filter compatibility.
Machines from Gaggia UK and its authorised reseller Coffee-Direct carry a 5-year warranty: 2 years parts and labour plus 3 years parts only. Coffee-Direct warns that cheaper imported units may have no UK warranty.
UK owners describe the coffee as consistently good whoever makes it, call it wonderful or great, and one compares its cappuccinos to a café's.
Several owners bought a second Anima Deluxe. One reports years of trouble-free use and easy cleaning. Another reports five years of daily use with one repair (in 2023) and a later one-spout flow issue fixed with phone support.
A buyer moving from a manual Gaggia found the frothed milk works well but lacks the thick microfoam of a manual steam wand, and the build is less sturdy than the old manual machine.
A Coffeefriend buyer reports loud squeaking during coffee delivery from new, which greasing the moving parts did not cure.
One buyer's first unit did not detect an empty bean hopper and kept grinding; the retailer replaced it. Another owner's machine needed one repair in five years and later dispensed from only one spout until fixed with phone support.
Trusted Reviews (2016 hands-on test) found the machine easy to live with and its milk system effective. Its crema was a little less dark and dense than higher-end machines, and long or milky drinks need more user involvement to stay consistent.
Coffee-Direct says its Gaggia machines are fitted with UK mains leads. Coffeefriend's listing ships with an EU plug and a certified UK conversion plug.
UK owner feedback that names this model is limited and comes mostly from buyers of the official distributor, with no Which? test, so long-term durability cannot be judged with confidence.
Gaggia's spec table and the Gaggia UK range page give 1850 W at 230 V. The Gaggia UK shop's technical data block states 1400 W max power consumption, 240 V.
Owners describe set-up as super easy, say the machine is easy for other household members to use, and one says it looks great in the kitchen.
UK owners of Anima-range machines (model not stated) report issues that Gaggia UK resolved: steam escaping from the side vents (fixed with a new valve), a warranty repair, a priming problem from a water tank not pushed fully in, and the need to degrease and descale. Some found a learning curve, or the written instructions unclear.
Applies to the model family
Anima-range owners describe the machine as robust and well made, still like new after a year, and fairly quiet compared with their previous De'Longhi apart from grinding. One chose it for its slimness.

UK owners who name the Anima Deluxe are largely happy. They praise consistently good coffee whoever makes it, café-style cappuccinos from the Cappuccinatore, easy set-up, easy cleaning and a smart look, and several bought a second machine. Specific complaints: foam less dense than a manual steam wand, a less sturdy feel than older manual Gaggias, loud squeaking on one unit, and isolated faults (an early bean-sensor failure, one repair, coffee from only one spout). Owners across the wider Anima range call the machines robust and fairly quiet, but some needed help with faults such as steam escaping from the vents, priming problems and descaling, and found the instructions unclear. Most praise comes from buyers of the official UK distributor, whose reviews also stress its after-sales support.

This machine replaced an old Gaggia manual machine which after many years was still working well, so I was happy to stick to the Gaggia brand. … Each cup is consistently good whoever presses the buttons. The milk frothing function works well, but perhaps doesn't quite get the thick microfoam that I could get with the old machine. It is good enough though. The build quality isn't quite as sturdy as on the manual machine but we have to move with the times. I have delayed reviewing this because the first machine delivered had a fault, in that it failed to sense when it had run out of coffee beans and ground away on nothing. …

Great coffee machine I would of said it’s absolutely brilliant if it did not make loud squeaking noises. When delivering coffee it sometimes squeaks quite loudly. Has done this from new. Have greased all moving parts but still noisy, can’t stop the noise.

We purchased the Gaggia Anima Deluxe some years ago. No trouble with this machine absolutely solid. No problems at all. We just bought another because this machine suit’s our space in the corner of our kitchen. Not least this machine is reliable, easy to clean. We love it and we feel relaxed every time we use this clever machine the coffee it makes is wonderful. We use Lavazza espresso intenso 9/10, delicious any time of day.

Definitely the best Bean to Cup for the money on the market :) We bought the Gaggia Anima Deluxe and it makes cappuccino's as good as any café at home. It is that good we bought another too. Not only is it a top machine it also looks great in the kitchen. Highly recommend you definitely will not be disappointed.

… I chose the Anima Deluxe, which is fantastic. The price was more than competitive. Even so it is still an expensive machine: a luxury and an indulgence in these difficult times but I have no regrets - just great coffee at the touch of a button. Enjoy.

With steam pouring out of the side vents, I thought my Gaggia Anima was for the tip. But after speaking to an engineer and Raj two solutions were offered up: manual descaling and fitting a new valve both which I did and the latter worked. Nothing was too much trouble for them.

Bought the Anima (after 10 happy years with De'longhi) because we wanted a slimmer machine. Had a small issue with initial priming of the machine, rang for help and was told to go on zoom for an engineer. … I was not impressed especially when I later realised it was just the water container not pushed in far enough. Decided to fit a water filter 3 days later and again an issue. …

My husband purchased a Gaggia Anima earlier this year. Its a great machine as it both grinds beans and allows for the insertion of pre-ground coffee - great if one of you prefers decaf. The machine is really robust and well made. … I have found them and the useful little tips so helpful, as the written instructions are not that clear.

Had a problem with my Gaggia Anima which was under warranty. Quick email to the team got me on a zoom call. Fault diagnosed quickly, machine would need to be returned. A courier was sent to collect it, the repair completed and returned to me….all free of charge.

We’re very happy with our Gaggia Anima Bean-To-Cup coffee machine. Our order was delivered promptly. The machine works well, though we had to re-read the manual to find the off for the steam and hot water. The coffee brewed is hot. Best of all, no more pods into landfill, we throw the grinds onto our garden.

… While I can't comment on the longevity of the machine as we have only had it for a few weeks now, … I have heard people say that the machine is very noisy...well, in comparison with the De Longhi, this is actually pretty quiet. You will have the sound of the coffee beans grinding, but that is pretty much all the major noise.
