The Gaggia Anima Prestige is a compact, Italian-made bean-to-cup machine whose main draw is an integrated milk carafe for one-touch cappuccino and latte macchiato. It has a ceramic grinder, adjustable strength and temperature, and a removable brew group. Owners most often praise the coffee and find it easy to use. The recurring criticism is a flimsy water container and handle; some owners also mention noise, a learning curve with the dual-function buttons and the lack of level warnings. Compared with newer Gaggia models it has a basic LCD and a short drink menu, and there is no water filter in the box. In the UK it is sold through Amazon's marketplace, Gaggia UK's eBay shop and specialist coffee retailers rather than high-street chains, with prices and warranties varying by seller. Independent long-term reliability data is not available.

Who is it for, and who is it not for?
Good for
Households that mainly drink espresso, cappuccino and latte macchiato and want milk drinks at one touch without a steam wand.
Kitchens with limited worktop width.
May not suit
Buyers who want a colour display, many presets such as americano or flat white, or smart level warnings.
Anyone who wants to buy from or return to a major high-street chain.
The version sold in the UK carries model number RI8762/18 (Amazon.co.uk item details; Clumsy Goat, Coffee Direct and Mr Bean2Cup SKU); RI8762/01 is the international code on gaggia.com.
An integrated double-chamber 0.5 l milk carafe makes cappuccino and latte macchiato at one touch, cleans the milk circuit automatically after use and can be stored in the fridge.
The drink menu is limited to espresso, espresso lungo, cappuccino, latte macchiato, frothed milk and hot water; there are no americano, flat white or iced-coffee presets, and the interface is a basic LCD with buttons.
At 22.1 cm wide, 34 cm high and 43 cm deep (8.7 kg) it is a narrow machine for one with an integrated carafe; cup clearance is 110–150 mm. Several owners describe it as compact and attractive.
The brew group is removable and washable under the tap; rinsing and descaling are automatic and guided; the tank, drip tray and grounds container are removable.
The machine accepts an Intenza+ water filter, but none is listed among the included accessories; one buyer abroad complained that no filter was supplied and that filters were hard to find.
Coffee quality is the most frequently praised point across Amazon.co.uk, Coffee Direct and Gaggia UK's Trustpilot reviews, with owners calling it excellent, strong or the best they have made at home.
The water container is a recurring weak point. Two Coffee Direct buyers call it less robust or flimsy, including the handle, and an Amazon buyer abroad reports the handle breaking after three weeks.
John Lewis, Argos and Currys did not list the Anima Prestige. It is sold through Amazon.co.uk (third-party seller Caffe Shop Ltd), Gaggia UK's eBay shop and specialist coffee retailers.
Warranty terms depend on the seller: Coffee Direct includes a 5-year official Gaggia warranty (2 years parts and labour plus 3 years parts only), Clumsy Goat and Mr Bean2Cup state 3 years, Coffee Friend 24 months.
The Anima Prestige is a long-running design: English YouTube reviews of it date back about ten years and UK owners on Trustpilot mention five-year-old machines in 2022. Gaggia's newer Magenta Prestige and Cadorna Prestige add colour displays and larger drink menus.
Many owners call the machine easy to use, including adjusting milk and coffee quantities. A few say the programmes take time to learn and dislike the dual-function buttons.
UK owners of five-year-old machines reported a failed microswitch and very slow coffee flow; both were resolved through Gaggia UK's video-call support, by repair or by cleaning the brew unit. A US owner reports a pump failure within a year.
One owner notes that the machine lacks the smarter monitoring of newer machines, so water and beans need checking before brewing to avoid interruptions.

Owners are most enthusiastic about the coffee itself, often calling it the best they have made at home. Those who drink milk coffees like the one-button cappuccino and latte from the carafe. Most find it easy to use and to adjust milk and coffee quantities, and several like its compact, streamlined look. The commonest complaint is build quality around the water container: it feels flimsy, and the handle broke on one machine. Some owners find it noisy, the programmes and dual-function buttons take time to learn, the milk dispenser can be fiddly, and the machine lacks the level warnings of newer models. Long-term reports are mixed. Some machines were still in use after five years but needed a repair or a deep clean of the brew unit, and Gaggia UK's support is praised for fixing them.

This is a nice looking machine and the coffee is excellent. Much better than my nespresso and older Delonghi Eletta. I drink black coffee and love it, my wife drinks white and loves the automated latte. Highly recommend

The water container handle broke after 3 weeks. Not what one would expect from a 600 euro machine. Amazon have informed me that I have to send the entire machine for repair and it will take over 2 weeks when the most obvious is to simply replace the said part. I offered to pay. Gaggia did not reply to my enquiry.

I bought this after looking at quite a few different machines, Had it a couple of weeks now and am extremely happy with it. Easy to use and alter the amount of milk or coffee dispensed.

Took a little while to get to grips with the various programmes , but the machine produces excellent coffee whichever type

I bought the Anima Prestige to replace a worn out Platinum Vogue. It is more streamlined and attractive but the water container is less robust and the milk dispenser fiddly. Still finding my way round the different programmes and dual function buttons don’t impress. However, the coffee I am making is the best ever and that’s probably the only thing that matters.

I’ve had the Gaggia Anima Prestige for a couple of weeks now. On the whole I think it is a great coffee maker. Straightforward to use and makes an excellent latte. It doesn’t feel quite as robust as my previous Gaggia machine. Particularly the water container and handle. Feels very flimsy. But overall I think it is a good product
P*** D***4/53 June 2024coffee-direct.co.uk
Not talking about the coffee the Anima produces given taste is subjective, matters what beans someone puts in, and how the machine is dialed in. The machine itself is good, with a good amount of settings to get to a decent tasting coffee. The milk carafe produces good results. Is compact, easy to maintain and clean, but lacks some smarts from more modern machines that really let you forget about things like checking water/beans before making a cup. It's also a little noisy (again, subjective).…

After previous experience with other manufacturers, (Not Good), we thoroughly enjoyed dealing with Gaggia, Raj & Team. Old school customer service at it's finest & took time to explain the difference between machines. As my wife is totally blind this meant so much to her, as they had the patience, and empathy with her situation. Purchased the Anima Prestige, a very easy machine to learn to use, and had a Zoom call with Raj, to help set up.…

Since purchasing Gaggia Anima Prestige I have had nothing but problems with it. It will not pump water. Whole Latte Love is the distributor. Their customer service is beyond terrible.

Can’t fault this machine, lovely coffee and easy to use. Haven’t explored every option yet but milk frothing has been excellent. It’s great the way that just by pressing one button a cappuccino is made. Excellent customer service and very quick delivery. Have also ordered some cleaning products for use later. A nice touch was the kilo of beans that came with the machine!

Our 5 year old Gaggia Anima Prestige developed a fault and I contacted Gaggia Direct to see what could be done. I initially spoke to Katie who after my explanation, put me through to Raj.

Unbelievable and excellent after care service from the team at Gaggia Elland. Our Gaggia Anima Prestige (5 years old) was producing coffee so slowly, clearly some blockage or other issue. We were taken through how to remove, clean parts and put back together the brew unit by two lovely, knowledgeable guys who identified straight away the issue we had and how to fix it (and all via Zoom!)…
