The Eletta Ultra is De'Longhi's top Eletta bean-to-cup machine. It makes over 50 one-touch hot and cold drinks, including fast cold brew and iced milk drinks, using separate hot and cold LatteCrema carafes. It has a 4.3-inch touchscreen, four profiles, Wi-Fi app control and quiet running. Early owners praise the variety, ease of use and low noise. An independent test found the coffee good rather than great for the money, with watery cold brew and slow dialling in. The 1.8 L tank and roughly 250 g hopper are modest for heavy use. It suits households that want lots of iced and milk drinks with little effort, not espresso purists. All the owner reviews so far come from launch testers, so long-term reliability is still unknown.
Strengths
Very wide drink menu, including cold brew in under 5 minutes, iced coffees and cold milk foam, which most bean-to-cup machines do not offer.
Quiet running: Silent Technology and Quiet Mark certification, confirmed by early owners and an independent test.
Easy to live with: clear touchscreen, guided set-up, four user profiles, Wi-Fi app, automatic cleaning programmes.
Show all (4)
Compact 235 mm width for a machine with two milk carafes.
Things to consider
Drink quality judged good rather than great for the price in independent testing; cold brew came out watery and lukewarm and the first shots needed dialling in.
Modest 1.8 L water tank and roughly 250-280 g bean hopper; one owner wanted a bigger tank.
Expensive, at much the same price everywhere in the UK; no cup warmer.

Owner feedback so far is all from launch testers, so long-term reliability is unproven.
Who is it for, and who is it not for?
Good for
Households that drink a mix of iced coffee, cold brew and milky drinks and want them one-touch with separate profiles.
Early-morning users in open-plan homes who value a quiet machine.
May not suit
Espresso enthusiasts looking for the best extraction for the money.
Heavy users or offices who want large water and bean capacity.
The UK machine is sold under three codes. De'Longhi UK and Amazon.co.uk use ECAM472.85.MB, Currys and Harvey Norman use the continental ECAM470.85.MB, and John Lewis uses ECAM740.85.MB. John Lewis and Currys share GTIN 8004399038264, and the specs match across all listings.
De'Longhi claims over 50 (51) one-touch drinks in 7 collections. These include hot espresso-based and filter-style coffees and cold drinks such as cold brew in under 5 minutes (Cold Extraction Technology), iced espresso, iced americano and iced milk drinks.
De'Longhi claims Silent Technology makes the machine up to 65% quieter than its automatic machines without it, and John Lewis lists it as Quiet Mark certified. TechRadar measured about 58 dB and called it fast and quiet.
The machine stores 4 user profiles, has a 4.3-inch full-touch colour screen and Wi-Fi with the De'Longhi app, and offers 3 strength settings plus adjustable drink length.
The UK reviewers who wrote text (De'Longhi launch testers, syndicated to Currys) most often praise the range of hot and cold drinks, especially iced options. They also say the touchscreen is easy to use, the on-screen set-up guides you well, and the design looks good.
Several reviewers say the machine is noticeably quieter than their previous bean-to-cup machines, including a Jura S8 and older De'Longhi models. Grinding can still be heard.
Complaints in the review text are few and mild. They are: the water tank could be bigger, the printed set-up instructions are confusing (the on-screen ones are better), tea is slow and coffee not very hot, milk drinks are only 'nice' compared with the espresso, and the price is high.
TechRadar's test (3.5/5) found the drinks good rather than great for the price. The first shot was badly under-extracted and dialling in took time, the machine stalled once, milk foam had slightly large bubbles, cold brew was watery and lukewarm, and the adaptive bean setting sometimes made dark-roast coffee weaker.
TechRadar praised the 50+ presets, customisation across four profiles and three times of day, a roughly 30-second warm-up, quiet running and very user-friendly operation. It rated design 4.5/5 and value 4/5.
All of the available written reviews are 5-star launch-programme reviews from product testers, syndicated from De'Longhi UK. Amazon.co.uk's few buyer ratings average lower, and John Lewis has none yet. Owner opinion is therefore probably skewed positive and gives no evidence on long-term reliability.
UK retailers price it the same: £1,149.00 at De'Longhi UK and Amazon.co.uk, £1,149.99 at Currys and John Lewis. Reviewers and TechRadar call it expensive but say it is largely justified by the features.

Early UK reviewers, all of whom were given the machine to test at launch, are enthusiastic. They most often praise the breadth of hot and cold drinks, particularly iced coffees and cold brew. They also like the easy colour touchscreen with guided set-up, the quiet running compared with older De'Longhi and Jura machines, the dual hot and cold milk carafes, and the per-person profiles. Coffee quality is described as rich and smooth, with espresso and cortado singled out over milk drinks. Criticisms are minor: a small water tank, confusing printed instructions, slow tea and coffee that is not very hot. Several reviewers find it expensive but feel it is worth it. An independent test was less impressed with drink quality, finding the drinks good rather than great, the cold brew watery and dialling in slow.

Since receiving my Eletta Ultra a few weeks ago, I’ve been really impressed with it. … The written instructions could be a little more straightforward to follow and can feel slightly confusing when first setting the machine up. … The only other thing I would improve is the size of the water tank. A slightly larger tank would be more convenient, particularly if you’re making several drinks throughout the day…

I was given the De’Longhi Eletta Ultra to try and review, and I’ve been using it for the last couple of weeks. I already own a Jura S8… … much quieter the Eletta is compared with my Jura. You can obviously still hear it working, particularly when it's grinding the beans, but the difference is noticeable…

For many years (many, many years) I was faithfully served by a DeLonghi Magnifica, we called him Tom (after Tom DeLonge) and I took his loss hard. … It is a heavy, substantial unit, but sleek and takes up much less counter space than I expected. The instructions are clear…
