The Sage Oracle Jet is a premium espresso machine with a built-in grinder. It grinds, doses and tamps automatically into a 58 mm portafilter, textures milk hands-free with Auto MilQ, and uses fast ThermoJet heating and a touchscreen with guidance. Buyers mostly praise coffee-shop-quality drinks, very quick start-up and ease of use. The recurring downsides are hard-to-dial-in grind settings on some units, occasionally uneven auto-tamping, mixed views on milk foam, and a high price. Brewing and steaming happen one after the other rather than at the same time. A minority report early faults, and long-term reliability is not yet established. It suits households that want café-style milk drinks with little skill or fuss; espresso purists who want manual control or simultaneous brew and steam may prefer a dual-boiler machine.
Before you buy
What the features mean in everyday use.
The Oracle Jet uses a ThermoJet heating system rated at 1400-1600 W rather than the boilers used on the Oracle Touch and Oracle Dual Boiler.
It has an integrated grinder with Baratza European precision burrs and 45 grind settings. It grinds, doses and tamps automatically into a 58 mm portafilter, with a 22 g dose.
Auto MilQ textures milk hands-free at 40-75 °C, with 8 texture levels and settings for dairy, soy, almond and oat milk.
There are 14 preset recipes, including cold brew, cold espresso and espresso martini, and a customisable menu of 20+ drinks.
It has a 2.3 L water tank and a 340 g bean hopper, weighs 12.1 kg and measures about 42 x 36-38 x 38-42.5 cm (figures differ slightly between Sage and retailers).
UK sellers and Sage list a 2-year repair warranty.
UK retailers list Wi-Fi connectivity. Expert Reviews notes automatic firmware updates.
The most common view among UK store reviewers is that the espresso and milk drinks are as good as a coffee shop's, especially from owners upgrading from Nespresso, Ninja or cheaper Sage machines.
Many reviewers find the touchscreen, guidance and automatic steps easy, including novices.
Owners praise the very fast start-up; it is ready within seconds of switching on.
A recurring complaint is difficulty dialling in. Some units need very fine or maximum grind settings, Barista Guidance keeps asking for changes, and shots can be watery or inconsistent. One owner says the burrs needed a break-in period before results improved.
Several owners report occasional uneven or weak automatic tamping, which some say causes channelling.
A minority of reviewers report early faults within weeks or months: a broken heating element, a machine that stopped working, units returned after two months, and screen or firmware glitches. Some also complain that Sage support was slow. Store reviews cannot establish a failure rate.
Opinion on Auto MilQ is split. Many praise the hands-free milk, but some find the foam too airy or weaker than the older Oracle Touch, or say it needs coaxing. Expert Reviews says low-fat milk foam could be better.
Reviewers often say the machine is expensive. Some say it is worth every penny; others say it does not justify its price.
A few experienced users say the default 22-24 g dose is higher than they want for a double shot.
Expert Reviews rated it a Best Buy and called it 'the best do-it-all espresso machine you can buy'. Its pros were exceptional espresso, good dairy and plant-milk steaming and an easy interface; its cons were the price, pucks that can be hard to knock out and low-fat milk foam.
Expert Reviews notes you cannot brew and steam at the same time. Sage's Auto Queue starts the next step automatically, so milk drinks are made one step after another.
Sage's UK price is £1,699.95. On 31 October 2026, Amazon.co.uk listed both colours at £1,529.95, while John Lewis, AO and Currys were at £1,699-£1,699.99.
Two reviewers say the hot water spout bubbles and spits.
A single US forum thread describes a used Breville-branded BES985 leaking at the ThermoJet housing seam. It was a second-hand unit with a failed earlier repair, so this is not evidence of a common fault on UK units.
Applies to the model family
With automatic grind, dose, tamp and milk texturing and on-screen guidance, the machine suits people who want café-style milk drinks with little manual skill. Espresso enthusiasts who want fine control over dose and tamp report more frustration.

Summarised from the 78 reviews we read. A review can mention several points, so the theme counts can add up to more than 78.
Owners mostly describe the Oracle Jet as producing coffee-shop-quality espresso and milk drinks with very little effort. They like the fast heat-up, the intuitive touchscreen and guidance, and the hands-free milk; many upgrading from pod or cheaper machines say it is worth the money. The criticism centres on consistency. Some owners struggle to dial in the grind, see watery shots or uneven auto-tamping, and find the default dose large. A few say the automatic milk is too airy or weaker than the older Oracle Touch, and the hot water spout spits. A minority report faults within weeks or months and slow Sage support. Several find it expensive for what it does.

Had this about 1 month. Delighted with it. I would love a couple more options on the drinks menu - cortado and macchiato … But overall brilliant to use … The coffee and milk are brilliant - using the sage coffee subscription too, so saving on the beans!
R*** 5/5 30 March 2026 John Lewis
Wish we had bought this a long time ago. We were dedicated Nespresso users but this coffee machine is next level. Easy to use, quick and you learn how to make better coffee. It is as good as good coffee shop coffee.
C*** 5/5 17 February 2026 John Lewis
I had already experienced the lower price Sage coffee machine which made delicious coffee but was a lot of faff … this is simply another level … You can make flat whites, capuccino, americano … including espresso martinis! … A small word of warning, don't expect it to be cheap … It works out at about £1 per double shot of coffee.
L*** 5/5 31 January 2026 John Lewis
The Oracle Jet was bought after our older Sage Barista Pro finally gave up. We tried the Ninja Pro but that gave up after three weeks … the Oracle Jet is a step change up and produces barista quality coffee everytime. Is it worth the money, absolutely.
F*** 4/5 3 December 2025 John Lewis
Consistently good coffee out of this machine, it's quite compact … Dropped a star as it's too expensive for what it is.
d*** 3/5 3 December 2025 John Lewis
I love the look and usability of the Oracle Jet. It generally works well, but you need to spend some time … homing in on the right grind size … Sometimes, randomly, it won't tamp properly (you get a wavy pattern on top) … the knob on the side for selecting the grind size is imprecise … Overall, it's expensive because of its problems, but it would be worth it if the grind size selection and auto-tamping were better.
P*** L*** 1/5 12 November 2025 John Lewis
Despite trying everything (and running through at least 2 kilos of coffee beans) I have been unable to get a good coffee from the Oracle Jet. Sage support has been shocking … I am back to using my Sage Barista Express Impress … I'm now trying to return the machine for a full refund but that is also proving difficult.
P*** M*** 2/5 7 November 2025 John Lewis
I purchased this machine to replace my Barista touch … The grinder is very noisy and does not tamp the coffee properly. If the water tank is not fully inserted the machine still makes coffee, but keeps advising you to decrease the grind size … The coffee it produces is very watery. After two months use the machine broke and had to be returned.
M*** 2/5 16 February 2025 John Lewis
On both clips they used the exact same coffee bean as me. Their machines dialled in at 24-28. My machine dialled in at 39-40 … there has to be a production issue … I got 47ml for a double shot when the other machines got 60ml … On the positive the auto steam wand does a good job with the milk … The touch screen is simple and easy to use.
J*** 1/5 30 October 2024 John Lewis
The new 'Milq' technology produces very very foamy cappuccino style milk … very airy watery milk … The hot water spout is reaaalllyyy rubbish bubbling ad spitting all over the place … Overall I have to say I am really disappointed with this which is interesting because all the 'unbiased' reviews seem to suggest it is brilliant (it isn't).

Avoid!!! Bought it two months ago and heating element already broke. Support are useless, keep asking slowly questions that I have already provided answers for. For such a premium product I would an instant replacement or an engineer visit.

I previously owned an older version of this machine, which was excellent, so I had high expectations for the Sage Oracle Jet. Unfortunately, this model has been very disappointing—especially considering it costs almost double the price. The coffee extraction is inconsistent, making it difficult to get a reliable cup, and the built-in grinder performs poorly, often failing to grind properly. … Sadly, this feels like a step backwards from the older model rather than an improvement.

Stopped working after a couple of weeks. Everything outside of reliability was good
B*** A*** 3/5 10 June 2026 Amazon Black Truffle; reviewed outside the UK
It grinds 22g-24g for double espresso shot, which is way too much. Plus, the auto tamping is really weak. … the weak tamping causes channeling right in the middle of the basket during brewing. To handle that, you'll need to use a separate tamper to get a good, firm press after grinding before extracting The espresso.
J*** 4/5 30 October 2024 Amazon Brushed Stainless Steel
I have now edited my review initially I cant quite give it 4 stars mainly because of the milk texturing. I was getting really bad milk texturing results but now it is not too bad … you have to coax it along to get decent results … Although this only has one boiler it really isnt a problem as it will automatically go from frothing to coffee extraction and it heats up quick. It does seem to get through the water a lot more …
C*** 4/5 24 May 2026 Amazon Brushed Stainless Steel; reviewed outside the UK
The espresso had a strange harsh "cockroach-like" taste, and the grinder didn't seem dialed in properly out of the box. … However, after some use, the burrs clearly seasoned and the machine transformed. … auto tamp is very good, though maybe one in ten tamps comes out slightly uneven or rough; auto milk is genuinely excellent … this machine is honestly brilliant once properly broken in.
C*** H*** 5/5 19 January 2025 Amazon Brushed Stainless Steel
I came to the Sage Oracle Jet after my Sage Oracle Touch died. … From pressing the power button to being ready to make a coffee takes a few seconds … The Barista training mode in the Jet helps you get the grind right … the automatic milk is clearly a step up. It's far from a cheap coffee machine; it is well made, easy to use for in and experienced users alike.

Expensive but worth it. The ease of the machine and its operation can’t be understated. And the quality of the coffee it produces is better than most baristas kin high street shops. A bit of time...

Great machine, we can't leave it alone! The only drawback is youd better get stocked up on coffee beans, because you'll be wanting to test it out all the time.

The Sage Oracle Jet offers convenient automatic puck preparation, grinding, distributing, and tamping neatly in the portafilter, alongside a very energy-efficient heating system. However, the automatic milk frothing creates overly foamy milk unsuitable for latte art, making manual frothing preferable, and volumetric dosing can be inconsistent. Once dialled in and properly warmed up, it produces delicious espresso shots with great texture and flavour.
YouTube · Review
The Sage/Breville Oracle Jet is an assisted portafilter espresso machine featuring dual ThermoJet heating for near-instant warm-up and high energy efficiency. It delivers superb espresso and manual milk texturing alongside a responsive touchscreen and Wi-Fi capability for future firmware updates. However, automatic milk frothing for plant-based milks and the built-in barista guidance currently need refinement.
YouTube · Review
The Sage Oracle Jet is an automated espresso machine designed to make quality coffee accessible to novices through automated grinding, tamping, and intelligent dial-in guidance. However, it relies on volumetric or timed shot stops rather than weight, uses an unadjustable heavy dose of over 23g, and features an unskippable steam pre-infusion that can cause channeling. While convenient and user-friendly, its high price tag of around £1,700 may deter coffee enthusiasts who prefer granular manual control.
YouTube · Review
The Breville / Sage Oracle Jet is a feature-rich, semi-automatic espresso machine that delivers rapid heat-up times and impressive thermal stability thanks to its updated ThermoJet system. While it boasts intuitive automation for grinding, tamping, and milk frothing, it struggles with very dense light roasts and has minor quirks like a loose grind dial and a messy hot water dispenser. Overall, it is a convenient, luxurious all-in-one option best suited for medium and dark roasts.
