The CASABREWS CM5418 is a small, inexpensive semi-automatic espresso machine. It has a thermoblock heater, a 51mm portafilter with pressurised single and double baskets, a pressure gauge and a manual steam wand. It suits beginners moving on from pods who want real espresso and milk drinks in a small space: it heats in under a minute, the steam wand is strong for the price, and owners like the crema. The trade-offs are noise and vibration, basic accessories, no temperature adjustment, and pressurised baskets that limit control unless you add a bottomless portafilter. Some owners report faults such as dead gauges and leaks, and long-term durability is unproven. In the UK it is sold mainly through Amazon, in silver only.
Before you buy
What the features mean in everyday use.
The UK listing gives a 20-bar Italian pump, a 1350 W heating system, 220 V AC, a 1 L removable water tank and a 51mm portafilter with stainless steel single and double filters.
CASABREWS claims PID temperature control, a fast-heating thermoblock, a built-in pressure gauge, low-pressure pre-infusion, programmable single and double shots, a cup warmer and overheating protection.
The machine is very compact: 31 x 15 x 30 cm (D x W x H) and 3.78 kg on the UK listing. TechRadar measured it at under 14 cm wide and calls it 'Great for tiny kitchens'.
Both supplied baskets are pressurised (dual-walled), and no single-walled basket is included. TechRadar notes that single-walled baskets are not sold for the stock portafilter, so moving to unpressurised shots means buying a new 51mm portafilter, for example a bottomless one.
Independent UK tests measured heat-up at about 40–50 seconds and steam readiness at about 8–9 seconds. Espresso was about 80°C at the spouts, and noise was about 50 dB at 1 metre while pulling shots.
Coffee Blog UK calls the 20-bar figure marketing. The gauge has no bar markings, and the over-pressure valve is set to around 15 bar according to Casabrews. The UK listing itself says the machine targets 9-bar extraction.
Most buyers whose reviews were read praise the espresso, especially its body and crema, and often compare it favourably with pod machines, earlier machines or coffee shops. Several say results depend on freshly ground beans and dialling in.
Owners and both UK reviewers find the steam wand surprisingly powerful for the price. Owners also say it takes practice to get good microfoam.
Several owners report that the machine is noisy and vibrates a lot when brewing and steaming, enough that cups can move on the drip tray. TechRadar also found the basket loud.
Owners report several faults: a pressure gauge that did not work from new, a first unit that broke, water and steam leaking through the group head after about six months, and the shot not pouring with high gauge pressure after a year. Other owners report fault-free use for 18 months to a few years. The store's own AI review summary describes reliability as mixed.
Buyers and TechRadar (Value 5/5) see it as good value for an entry-level espresso machine.
Brew temperature, pull time and pressure cannot be fine-tuned. The stock tamper and portafilter are basic, and owners describe the build as mostly plastic.
A forum user with a blade-type grinder could not get a sensible brew ratio with the stock pressurised double basket. The double shot ran about 75 g in 30 seconds, and the forum admin blamed the grinder. Upgrading to a bottomless portafilter is a common recommendation among owners.
In the UK the CM5418 is sold mainly on Amazon.co.uk by CASABREWS (dispatched by Amazon), in silver only. Argos and Currys searches returned no CASABREWS products. The brand's own site prices in USD.
Amazon UK flags a newer model, the CASABREWS 5418 PRO, which has a faster heating system and costs more.
Applies to the model family
First-time espresso makers find it simple to set up, quick to heat and easy to clean. TechRadar rates it 'Incredibly beginner friendly'.
Owners mention running hot water for about 8 seconds before pulling a shot, as Casabrews recommends. They also mention water coming out of the steam wand when switching to steaming or while pouring coffee.

Summarised from the 22 reviews we read. A review can mention several points, so the theme counts can add up to more than 22.
Owners mostly praise the espresso: full-bodied shots with real crema, often compared to coffee-shop drinks and a big step up from pods. They like the compact size, looks and quick heat-up. Beginners find it easy to use and clean, and many call it great value. The steam wand is strong but takes practice. The main complaint is noise and vibration. Some report faults, such as a dead pressure gauge, an early failure, or leaks and flow problems after months of use, while others report trouble-free use for years. Enthusiasts note the lack of temperature or pressure control and a few quirks, such as flushing before shots. A bottomless portafilter and a good grinder are often recommended.

I’ve been using the Casabrews CM5418 daily for about 2–3 weeks to make espresso and milk drinks (mainly cappuccinos and lattes). … Espresso quality is surprisingly good once dialled in. With fresh beans and a medium-fine grind, it produces a decent crema and a strong, smooth shot. It’s not café-level, but it is clearly a step above pod machines and instant coffee. … Downsides: * Mostly plastic build (feels budget but not fragile) * Steam wand takes practice * Included accessories are basic * Not ideal if you want full barista control …

I’ve had this Casabrews machine on my kitchen counter for a year and a half now, and it’s been brilliant as a daily driver. … - Durability & Build: The materials feel surprisingly solid for the price point, and it’s proven to be a proper workhorse. It warms up quickly and hasn't given me a single issue in the last 18 months I've owned it. … - Steam Wand: Surprisingly powerful for a compact machine at this price point. …

Decent coffee, albeit a lot of vibration when making espresso and steaming milk (the mug I use to catch drips vibrates off the platform when steaming milk). After six months it's started to play up and leaks water/steam through the espresso head when using the steam wand. Also when making espresso the steam wand drips even though it's tightly closed. I will be looking to get it fixed/replaced under the warranty.

Bought this to replace a Delonghi machine which wasn’t working as well. This has a good pressure to make a good espresso. My only gripes with it are its noisy and vibrates quite a bit. The steamer for the milk takes a bit of getting used to. … Update - had this over a year and still noisy. … Starting to have an issue with it not pouring out and going up to a high pressure on the gauge, but this might be due more to my impatience at using the machine. Still happy with it.

I recently bought a very similar machine from another brand and we stopped using it because the coffee had no body, no cream at the top. This one does. It's stylish, you can programme the one and two cup coffee length, and the coffee comes out very warm, and with cream on top. One small thing to take into account: the buttons beep when you press them, but they're not too loud.

I'm in love! A week ago, I lived in the coffee gutters of society, drinking pour-over coffee that just didn't satisfy me. Today, I have a professional level cappuccino within reach. … visually beautiful, compact, sturdy, and minimal, which is exactly what I wanted. … P.s. A quality grinder set to an appropriate espresso grind is also crucial to success.

I’ve worked as a Barista, on and off, for over 25 years and I honestly could not be more impressed with this machine. For the price, I was really skeptical that it would be able to deliver quality shots and steaming capability, but this thing is amazing! The Casabrews CM5418 is a budget-friendly espresso machine that closely resembles the De'Longhi Dedica Arte in appearance and capability. It offers impressive steam wand performance and makes decent espresso, especially if upgraded with standard non-pressurised baskets. However, the machine vibrates considerably during extraction and lacks a genuine three-way solenoid valve.
YouTube · Review
The Casabrews CM5418 is a compact and affordable entry-level espresso machine that features pre-infusion and an integrated pressure gauge. While straight espresso shots from the stock pressurised basket can taste somewhat bland and bitter, it works well for milk-based drinks. With a few affordable upgrades, such as a non-pressurised basket and a proper grinder, it can produce genuinely impressive coffee.
YouTube · Review
The CASABREWS CM5418 is an inexpensive, beginner-friendly semi-automatic espresso machine that delivers surprisingly good espresso with appealing crema. However, it suffers from a lightweight, tippy build, awkward steam wand placement, and finicky shot programming. It represents great value for beginners or small spaces, though users will still need to purchase accessories like a decent grinder and a milk jug.
YouTube · Review
The Casabrews CM5418 is a compact, entry-level semi-automatic espresso machine well suited to small spaces and beginners thanks to its narrow footprint and forgiving pressurised baskets. However, it relies on a single heating system, meaning you cannot brew and steam simultaneously, and the milk frothing wand is relatively slow. It also suffers from vibration that can shift lighter cups and lacks a three-way solenoid valve, leaving wetter coffee pucks.
