The De'Longhi Stilosa EC260.GR is a compact, sage-green manual pump espresso machine. It has a 15 bar pump, a 1 litre tank, a manual steam wand, and takes ground coffee or ESE pods. Owners like its looks, small footprint and simplicity, and most are happy with the espresso and milk drinks for the money. It is a typical entry-level machine. Coffee can come out only warm unless cups are preheated, the supplied pressurised baskets limit shot quality, the instructions are mostly pictures, and tall mugs need the drip tray removed. A minority of owners report leaks or breakdowns, and no independent long-term reliability data is available. It suits one or two people stepping up from pods or a cafetière. It is less suited to enthusiasts who want hot, fine-tuned espresso or latte art.
Before you buy
What the features mean in everyday use.
EC260.GR is the green version of De'Longhi's Stilosa EC260 manual pump espresso machine (EAN 8004399024168). Cream EC260.CR and black EC260.BK are the same machine in other colours.
15 bar pump, 1100 W input power, 1 litre removable water tank, UK plug.
Compact footprint of about 20.5 cm wide, 34.3 cm deep and 28.5 cm high; weighs about 3.9 kg.
Takes ground coffee or ESE pods, with single, double and ESE pod baskets. Expert Reviews notes the Stilosa uses pressurised baskets.
Manual steam wand with adjustable steam and a hot water option; no milk jug in the box.
Maximum cup height is 110 mm with the removable drip tray. Several owners say a tall mug only fits once the drip tray is removed.
Switches off automatically after 15 minutes.
Argos and AO list a 1-year manufacturer's guarantee. John Lewis includes a 2-year guarantee. De'Longhi UK mentions a '2-year warranty'.
The most common praise is good-tasting espresso with crema, often compared favourably with café coffee or pods.
Many owners find it simple to use and quick to clean. Some needed videos or practice to get started.
Owners frequently praise the looks, and the green colour in particular, and how it fits a kitchen.
Owners often describe it as good value and a sensible first or beginner espresso machine.
Many owners are happy with the steam wand for cappuccinos and lattes. A minority find it slow, weak, too airy or watery, and not suited to latte art.
A recurring complaint is that the coffee is not hot enough or is slow to reheat between shots, so preheating the cup is advised. A few owners say the opposite: it gets very hot or even scalds.
Some owners report leaks, loss of pressure, power tripping or failure within months to a few years, and some found guarantee claims frustrating. These are individual reports, not a measured failure rate.
Some owners find the coffee weak or watery and the portafilter stiff or awkward to lock. Enthusiasts suggest upgrading to a bottomless portafilter.
The instructions are mostly pictures, and several owners wanted written steps, for example for descaling.
Expert Reviews' hands-on test of the Stilosa range (mainly the EC230) found it cheap, easy to use and capable of good espresso. Downsides were no water filter, plasticky build and a basic tamper.
A few owners say the pump is noisy in use.
From the specs and owner feedback, it suits one or two people moving from pods or a cafetière who want a small, simple manual espresso machine. It is less suited to those who want very hot drinks without fuss, latte art or long-term durability assurance.

Summarised from the 165 reviews we read. A review can mention several points, so the theme counts can add up to more than 165.
Owners mostly like the Stilosa as a small, good-looking and straightforward first espresso machine. Many say it makes tasty espresso with crema and is easy to clean. The green colour gets frequent compliments. The steam wand does a decent job for cappuccinos, though some find it slow or too basic for latte art. The most common complaint is that coffee comes out only warm unless the cup is preheated, though a few find it very hot. Other complaints include weak or watery shots with the supplied basket, a stiff portafilter, picture-only instructions and tall mugs needing the drip tray removed. A minority report leaks, pressure loss or breakdowns within months to a few years, and some had frustrating guarantee claims, so durability opinions are mixed.
Summarised from 165 reviews; 1 reviews about delivery, packaging or the seller were left out. The summary is drawn from opinions that recur in the reviews read; each theme shows how many reviews mention it. These counts are not a rate and do not apply to every unit.

I’ve been using this coffee maker daily (sometimes multiple times a day) for about a year now, and I’m super happy with it! … Minor Drawbacks: —— It is quite noisy during operation. —— The print/symbols on the machine have rubbed off slightly from daily use. Overall, despite these minor things, it's a wonderful machine for me and I highly recommend it!

Does exactly what I wanted it to do. Produce a first class, proper ground Coffee, from a well known Brand. … This is a perfect, quality machine from a known Brand. I would definitely recommend this to anyone, wishing to start in coffee world for a decent, first class coffee.

Stylish, compact, and makes a solid espresso straight out of the box – this little De'Longhi is a cracking entry into the world of manual coffee machines. The 15-bar pressure gives a decent crema, and the milk frother does a lovely job for cappuccinos or lattes. BUT – if you really want to fall in love with it, do yourself a favour and get a bottomless portafilter and a 4-cup basket. …
T*** 5/5 8 February 2023 Amazon Colour: Cream
It's neat, compact and easy to use. … The only downside with this coffee machine is that a big mug won't fit on top of the drip tray when attaching the portafilter to the machine but you can easily remove the drip tray so not a problem. … the water has a plastic aftertaste so I make teas and hot chocolates using the kettle instead. …

This coffee machine is hands down the best I’ve ever owned. … The water capacity could be bigger but it’s fine as I’m the only coffee drinker here. … It also looks great in my kitchen and the coffee gets really hot so I can make it first and then have breakfast. … Plus it’s super easy to clean!
B*** 5/5 5 April 2023 Amazon Colour: Green
The instructions are indeed mostly pictorial but a little thought has it almost completely cracked. The first use failed to produce a flow of hot water and it took some rocking about and removing the water reservoir to help prime the pump. Now it's no problem. … I find the coffee temperature just right. …

a great machine for the price, especially the milk frother as you can take the metal cylinder off and use the plastic nozzle as a latte milk frother.

Amazing coffee machine. Easy to use , clean and coffee is very delicious and creamy.
m*** 4/5 28 May 2026 Argos
This is the second stilosa machine that I used. The reason why I didn't give five star is because the previous version steam wand was easier to use, if you look at the previous black stilosa Ec230 bk is slightly different, but I have decided to go for a different colour which looks good compared to the black one. …

… Terrible instruction book. However it's a lovely looking machine, great size and the sage green colour is lovely. Reasonably priced too. Not sure about using the ese pods, some of these are not great tasting, but with trial and error hopefully but of course there is the ground coffee option too
E*** 2/5 10 September 2026 ao-retail-ltd (Feefo) AO review
Very disappointed had to look online for written instructions as images were difficult to follow! Water doesn't heat up for a nice hot cup of coffee and milk frother takes ages to steam up the milk !I've certainly wasted my money !!

A pretty modern machine that fits in with any decor. Easy to use - only gripe is that I have to remove the drip tray to put a standard mug underneath. Pleased with purchase.

Neat and attractive machine but sadly it scalds the coffee. It is far too hot so disappointing.

After 2 weeks of use (weekends only), the power kept tripping out so the machine was unusable.

This machine does everything you need (other than grinding the beans). It quick and easy to use and looks good on the counter. Cleaning is easy and takes very little time, an all round good entry machine
C*** 5/5 29 August 2026 John Lewis
Beautifully manual. Forget about apps, YouTube lessons and a world of pain. Just fill, plug in and enjoy an espresso. There is a froth thing, but I haven't used that. It has a small footprint, landscape format, and the reservoir is inside, so it looks tidy. I love it. Excellent value and smartly retro.

I got this as a treat for our family and I'm really disappointed- we have tried all of the trouble shooting suggestions on the JL webpage and we still get cold tasteless coffee that has no cream on top, the machine is stiff to use and after a broken wrist I find I can't manage it without help, it is really disappointing and I am back to using the cafetière again!
f*** 5/5 1 June 2026 John Lewis
Used every day for 6 months and no issues so far - no bells or whistles, but simple to use, easy to clean and makes great coffee - also one of our cats has adopted the warming plate as her day bed!
J*** 1/5 10 January 2026 John Lewis
We ordered the machine as our previous John Lewis espresso machine stopped working after some three years … the coffee holder does not line up properly, which affects everyday use. This misalignment feels like a manufacturing or design fault rather than user error. …
H*** C*** 2/5 18 February 2026 John Lewis
Looks great, a perfect size for my kitchen and was reduced from £125, which I thought was a bargain, especially as it's my first machine and didn't want to spend a fortune. However, after the first espresso, you have to wait a while for the water to reheat, but the coffee is still not hot … The steamer still adds a lot of water to the milk despite my running it through for a while. …
M*** 4/5 22 February 2026 John Lewis
I've had this machine for a year now and it's still running really well and looks good as new. I agree with other comments about the heating power - it's not the hottest but it still makes a decently warm coffee if you ensure you've also heated the milk sufficiently. … The milk frother is really basic and not great at all, if you are looking to get into latte art you will be frustrated with this. …
U*** 4/5 7 November 2025 John Lewis
We've just bought our 3rd Stilosa in 6 years. It's fair to say this coffee machine is not going to last forever, the first one lasted 3 years with a repair after 6 weeks, the second one lost all pressure one week after its 2 year guarantee had ended. Having said that, we use it every day, at least once and the cappuccino is really nice … I would give it 5 stars for ease of use and quality of the drink, but have knocked a star off for longevity.

We bought this in mid January. We used it for 2 cups of coffee a day. It stopped working reliably in July. Sometimes it makes expresso. Regularly it fails. We descaled it but that makes no difference. The frother is more reliable. …

The Delonghi Stilosa is an affordable, entry-level espresso machine that delivers great value with a metal cup-warming plate, a removable one-litre water tank, and a heated brew group. While using it in stock form with pre-ground coffee produces decent results, the pannarello steam wand is somewhat tricky to texture milk with. By upgrading to a non-pressurised bottomless portafilter and removing the pannarello sleeve, the machine can produce high-quality espresso and latte art-capable microfoam.
YouTube · Review
The De'Longhi Stilosa is a compact, entry-level espresso machine featuring a stainless steel boiler and a removable drip tray insert for taller cups. Equipped with pressurised baskets and a pannarello steam wand, it makes pulling shots and frothing milk straightforward and forgiving for novices. It offers excellent value and convenience for anyone seeking an affordable machine for smaller spaces.
YouTube · Review
The reviewer presents the De'Longhi EC260 as an affordable, capable starter espresso machine. While it has budget compromises such as noisy operation, a basic plastic tamper, and limited cup clearance, it delivers decent coffee for its price range.
