The Dedica Maestro Plus EC950.M is De'Longhi's top slim pump espresso machine. It has a 15-bar pump, a Thermoblock with three brew temperatures and an Auto LatteArt steam wand that can froth milk automatically or be used manually. Owners mostly praise the coffee, the compact metal build and how easy milk drinks are, which makes it a good step up for beginners with limited counter space. The downsides are noise, stiff or lukewarm auto-froth for some users, no hot-water function, slower steaming than the rival Sage Bambino Plus, and online-only instructions. A minority of buyers report early faults such as leaks, stuck warning lights or units that stop working, and there is no independent long-term reliability data to show how common these are.
Before you buy
What the features mean in everyday use.
The UK EC950.M is a 1450 W, 15-bar pump espresso machine with a removable 1.6 l water tank.
De'Longhi states that a Thermoblock with Active Temperature Control gives three coffee infusion temperature profiles. The Amazon listing gives these as 92–96 °C.
The Auto LatteArt steam wand froths milk automatically at three temperatures (low for plant milk, medium for cow's milk, high for to-go drinks) and three textures (dense foam, fine foam, microfoam), and it cleans itself.
UK retailers list the machine at 32.5 cm high, 19 cm wide and 45 cm deep, weighing 5.5 kg. It is slim, but deeper and heavier than older Dedica models.
It takes ground coffee and ESE pods. It comes with a tamper, a 350 ml milk jug, pressurised single and double baskets, a scoop and descaler. One John Lewis owner reports four baskets, with non-pressurised versions as well.
John Lewis and Currys both state a 2-year guarantee for this model.
Buyers at John Lewis, Currys and Amazon most often praise the taste and quality of the espresso and milk drinks.
Many reviewers like its compact footprint, sturdy build and good-looking metal finish, and several choose it for small kitchens.
Many owners find it easy to use and like the frother for flat whites and cappuccinos. A UK reviewer calls manual steaming 'really forgiving' and 'very easy to learn with'.
Some reviews and a UK hands-on review say auto frothing tends to give stiff, cappuccino-style foam rather than latte-art microfoam. Some say it is weak with non-full-fat milk, and it tops out at 70 °C, which some users find not hot enough. A few buyers also found the coffee not hot enough.
A number of reviewers say the machine is loud, especially the knocking during pre-infusion and the steam wand. One owner returned it for this reason, and another says it is not as noisy as reviews suggest.
A minority of reviews report early faults: machines dead on arrival or failing after 3 weeks to 10 months, water leaking from the base, a low-water or descale light that stays on, and a frother that stopped working. Fault reports make up a larger share of the few Amazon.co.uk reviews. Store reviews cannot give a failure rate.
Several buyers miss a printed manual; descaling and setup are explained through QR codes and videos. Some find the machine fiddly to learn at first.
A UK hands-on review prefers the Sage Bambino Plus. It measured steaming 150 ml of milk to 60 °C at 1 min 26 s on the Maestro Plus against 47 s on the Bambino Plus. It also notes there is no way to produce hot water, no 3-way solenoid valve, and that spare baskets rattle in the storage compartment. It found heat-up takes about 15–20 seconds.
Of the 39 John Lewis reviews, 24 were syndicated from De'Longhi and tagged as incentivised. They are almost all 4–5 stars, while all the 1- and 2-star reviews there come from John Lewis buyers. This means the overall star rating likely overstates satisfaction somewhat.
The machine is sold new in the UK by De'Longhi, Amazon, Currys and John Lewis. Argos does not currently list it.

User experience
See the common points first, then read the original reviews yourself.
Summarised from the 107 reviews we read. A review can mention several points, so the theme counts can add up to more than 107.
Owners mostly like the coffee: espresso, flat whites and cappuccinos are widely described as tasty. They also like the slim, solid metal body and find the machine easy to get going with. The automatic milk wand is a favourite with beginners, though some find its foam stiff or not hot enough and switch to manual steaming, which an experienced UK reviewer calls very forgiving. Common complaints are noise (pre-infusion knocking and the steam wand), the lack of a printed manual, and a learning curve. A minority report early faults: units dead on arrival or failing within weeks or months, water leaking from the base, or a low-water light that stays on. These reports are more frequent among recent Amazon buyers. Many of the most glowing reviews are incentivised launch reviews.
Summarised from 107 reviews. The summary is drawn from opinions that recur in the reviews read; each theme shows how many reviews mention it. These counts are not a rate and do not apply to every unit.
107 unique reviews were counted: 8 Amazon.co.uk (all shown on the listing), 39 John Lewis (all, two API pages) and 60 Currys/Feefo English reviews with text (12 rating-only excluded). Distinctive John Lewis syndicated texts were not found in the Currys feed. Theme counts are manual tallies and approximate for Currys.

Rubbish - the coffee machine died after 4 months.

…It makes great coffee, steamer wand is OK. I live in a hard water area and have had to descale this already after two weeks… Its been returned because it has suddenly started leaking… the descale light remains on and its still leaking water. This is just within a month of purchase, so it's definitely not fit for purpose…

De Longhi advised me that this model is a good basic coffee maker and I think I agree - its a recent puchase. The advice that cups should be pre-warmed is worth taking and the taste is good.

A lovely machine with automatic milk frothing. Unfortunately it started to malfunction after 5 months use at 4 cups a day and i had to return it.

This machine is really very good, although it is quite noisy. The coffee is easy to make and the milk frother does a fine job especially as you can make the milk substantially hotter than the automatic setting… Good buy

Does what it says well. I've bought a 2nd one after a year for use when away cruising on a narrowboat. Only slight negative is lack of good paper instructions for the descaling process. You need to scan a qr code and watch a video. That said its still straightforward.

Very poor customer service from or behalf John Lewis. The machine isn't turning on after 10 months of use. The warranty is 2 years, but only of technical support. It was very confused and difficult to arrange they to collect the coffee machine to fix it. … I really disappointed and regretted of buying this coffee machine and using John Lewis.

…The automatic wand here does that, BUT only to a max of 70c. … The 51mm portafilter comes with 4 baskets... a sinle and a double in both prssurised and non-pressurised versions. … Overall, nice looking machine, produces great coffee and isn't anywhere as noisy as some reviews have stated.

We wanted a small espresso machine, due to lack of counter space, that makes a good flat white (and babycino for my daughter). The automatic milk frother on this does the job perfectly and the machine takes both ground espresso and ESE pods which is really convenient. …

Unfortunately, much as I liked the stylish good quality design of the machine itself, it was just too noisy for me. … a loud pre-infusion knocking sound continued, which was followed by the not-very-quiet infusion coffee dispensing sound. … Return processed quickly.

…the DeLonghi Dedica Maestro Plus is as good as you can get in the price range with functional ability. It is a little noisier than I expected, and … the filters in the pressurised baskets are fairly difficult to remove with large fingers. Good for its price; recommend for medium-to-dark roast, not for light roast coffee. The non-pressurised small basket is perfect for extracting 12 grams of medium-roast coffee in 25 seconds. The big pressurised basket is useful for pre-ground coffee.

The De'Longhi Dedica Maestro Plus EC950 is an upgrade over previous Dedica models, offering both basic and advanced modes with improved espresso extraction and milk frothing capabilities. It features an automated, non-burn steam wand with temperature sensing and auto-purge functions, though the frothing process is noticeably loud and there is no dedicated hot water spout. Overall, it delivers balanced espresso and good cappuccino texture, though its value largely depends on regional pricing.
YouTube · Review
The De'Longhi Dedica Maestro Plus produces good quality espresso when paired with a capable grinder and features an excellent cool-touch wand for manual steaming. However, its automatic milk steaming produces foam that is too stiff for latte art, and it lacks a hot water function. It also lacks a three-way solenoid valve and a 9-bar OPV found on competitors like the Sage Bambino Plus.
YouTube · Review
The De'Longhi Dedica Maestro Plus is a compact, semi-automatic espresso machine that delivers impressive espresso with rich crema and well-balanced flavour. It features both automatic and manual milk steaming capabilities, heating up quickly thanks to its thermoblock system and conveniently auto-purging afterwards. While the machine is quite lightweight, it provides excellent overall value for home brewing.
YouTube · Review
The DeLonghi Dedica Maestro Plus is positioned as an affordable prosumer espresso machine offering commercial-style features under $500. It combines hands-on espresso crafting—via non-pressurised baskets and temperature control—with convenient automation, notably an Auto LatteArt steam wand.
