The CASABREWS 3700 Essential is a very cheap, slim semi-automatic espresso machine with a 20-bar pump, thermoblock heating with PID, a 51 mm portafilter, a manual steam wand and a 1.3 L tank; in the UK it is sold mainly through Amazon. Owners like its coffee, simplicity, looks, easy cleaning and value, and most find the steam wand capable. It ships with pressurised baskets and flimsy accessories, espresso was inconsistent in testing, it can drip and be noisy, and a recurring minority of owners report failures within months to two years. It suits budget-minded beginners with little counter space. Anyone wanting consistently excellent espresso or proven longevity should look higher up the range. Long-term reliability has not been independently tested.
Before you buy
What the features mean in everyday use.
A semi-automatic espresso machine with a 20-bar (ULKA) pump, thermoblock heating and PID temperature control, a 51 mm portafilter and a manual steam wand; it takes ground coffee only.
The Amazon UK listing (sold by CASABREWS) gives 220 V AC and 1350 W, whereas the manufacturer's US product page lists 120 V / 60 Hz; buyers should make sure they get the UK-voltage unit from a UK listing.
Applies to one variant
Compact footprint: 14.5 cm wide on the UK listing (6.49 in per the manufacturer), with a 1.3 L removable water tank and a weight of about 3.75 kg.
It ships with pressurised (dual-wall) single and double baskets and a light plastic tamp scoop, and it has no milk jug; both reviewers found shot quality improved with or required extra accessories such as a bottomless portafilter and a proper grinder.
In a three-week test TechRadar rated it 3/5: it praised the low price, compact size and a strong steam wand, but found espresso quality inconsistent, the machine prone to dripping and mess after brewing, and the accessories cheap-feeling.
Tom's Guide rated it 4/5 as very affordable, very compact and easy for beginners, but noted that it needs extra accessories to go from good to great and that a large screw on the shower screen marks the coffee puck. It also noted that after steaming you must purge before the shot buttons work again.
UK Amazon reviewers most often praise the coffee quality and crema, ease of use, slim and attractive stainless steel design, value for money and easy cleaning; many describe it as a good first machine for beginners.
A recurring minority of UK Amazon reviews (8 of the 36 read) describe the machine failing or weakening, at anywhere from two months to about two years. One owner says the manufacturer never replied; another was sent a replacement. Amazon's own review summary also flags durability concerns.
Some owners find it loud, especially the steam wand's initial screech, and one reports lukewarm espresso even with a preheated cup; the brand's own Q&A on the UK listing recommends preheating the cup and brew path for hotter espresso.
The brand advises waiting for the boiler to cool and avoiding brewing directly after steaming milk, which slows back-to-back milk drinks. An owner also notes that the steam wand has no auto-purge, so it must be purged by hand.
The Amazon UK listing states a 2-year product warranty; the manufacturer's US page refers to a minimum 12-month manufacturer's warranty.
In the UK the machine is sold mainly on Amazon UK (sold by CASABREWS, dispatched by Amazon) and by third-party business sellers on eBay UK; it was not listed at Argos, Currys, John Lewis, Robert Dyas or OnBuy, and no UK manufacturer shop was found.
The manufacturer offers silver, beige, black, pastel green and sapphire blue, but only the silver stainless steel version was found on Amazon UK.
Taken together, the tests and owner reviews make it a low-cost, space-saving entry point for beginners. Users who want consistently excellent espresso, strong milk texturing or long-term durability may need extra accessories or a sturdier machine.
Most owners who mention the steam wand find it capable of good milk foam (TechRadar also rated it highly), but a few find it slow, loud at start-up or not good at frothing milk.

User experience
See the common points first, then read the original reviews yourself.
Summarised from the 36 reviews we read. A review can mention several points, so the theme counts can add up to more than 36.
UK owners mostly see it as an affordable, slim first espresso machine. They praise the espresso's taste and crema, the simple controls, the clear manual, the stainless steel look and the small footprint; many call it good value and easy to clean, and several say it suits beginners. Most who mention the steam wand say it froths milk well, though a few find it slow, screechy at start-up or weak, and one finds the espresso lukewarm. The main worry is durability: a recurring group report weak flow or outright failure from a couple of months to about two years in. Support experiences are mixed, from a quick replacement to no reply.

Only been using it for a year and a half and it’s stopped working. Up until then it was good but I wouldn’t recommend it if it breaks so quickly.

I REALLY want to give this 5 stars, because for the price it simply can't be beaten and it's amazing at it's price range, but looking at it as a complete product, it definitely has some fundamental flaws that hold it back. … The steam wand on mine is VERY loud when it first starts with a high pitched screeching, but after a few seconds in the milk it calms down. … The espresso also always comes out of my machine fairly lukewarm, even when I heat up the cup first with hot water, so by the time I'm drinking my latte, it's decently warm but never hot. …

Absolutely beautiful machine. Can make brilliant milk, and can make brilliant espressos as well. Considering the price Im really happy with the machine and would recommend to anyone who’s looking to get their first machine. Very clean design and is a pleasure to use in the mornings

Love love love it!! I use it to make espresso as it’s the only type of coffee I drink. It’s so easy to use, the instructions are very clear and give a lot of info. … I know there are ones with gauges etc but if you want a very decent, ease of use, compact, beginner’s machine at £109.99, this is for you :-)))

Update! 5 stars! Emailed the support team and they agreed to send a replacement. It’s arrived, just 3 days after they agreed to replace it and I’m enjoying a lovely coffee. Great customer service! … Original review - 1 star * Bought this just over a year ago, have used it at least four or five times a day and was working brilliantly until yesterday. Now makes a burning smell when I turn it on and won’t work so I guess that’s that. …

I like the slim design which fits so well into my kitchen. Was working well before but after two years of use, it started to not working well. … First the water go very slowly and only very little coffee came out. And the steam also became very weak. … This is not a bad machine, the coffee was good and the design is nice. The manual has clear instructions with pictures which is easy to understand. Only that it did not last too long.

I bought this coffee machine for the second time. The first one is still working and is great. … Coffee from this machine is tasty and very hot. … From the less pleasant things I can say that the machine is quite loud during operation. But what other machine is not? …

Having used this for nearly 6months I can say I'm really impressed... Easy to use, easy to fill with water, easy to clean. … The taste/ flavour it extracts from the beans is excellent - when compared to 'coffee shops'.. … No regrets- no complaints from me

The Casabrews 3700E Essential is an accessible entry-level espresso machine that produces thick shots with rich crema using pre-ground coffee. Its pressurised portafilter simplifies the brewing process without the need for precise dialling in, and the single-hole steam wand textures milk well. It offers an easy, affordable way to make lattes at home, though buyers will need to supply their own milk pitcher.
YouTube · Review
The Casabrews 3700 Essential is a compact, straightforward espresso machine well suited for kitchens with limited counter space. It warms up and brews espresso remarkably quickly, producing rich coffee and textured milk foam. Although the water tank is stiff to remove initially and the hot water spout can spray forcefully, it provides great value for making coffee drinks at home.
