The De'Longhi Eletta Explore ECAM450.86.T is a premium bean-to-cup machine. Its two LatteCrema carafes and Cold Extraction cold brew add iced and cold-brew drinks to the usual hot espresso and milk drinks, and it has four user profiles and app control. UK owners mainly praise the ease of use, the coffee quality, the milk foam and the easy cleaning. Recurring drawbacks are drinks or milk that some find lukewarm, fiddly app or Wi-Fi pairing, a start-up rinse that limits remote brewing, and iced milk drinks that do not impress everyone. It suits households that share a machine and want both hot and cold coffee. Those who only drink hot espresso or milk drinks can get the basics from cheaper De'Longhi models. Long-term reliability is not established; only isolated repair reports exist.
Before you buy
What the features mean in everyday use.
The machine has a 19 bar pump, 1450 W power, a 1.8 l water tank and a 300 g bean hopper, and can also use pre-ground coffee.
De'Longhi lists 52 one-touch drinks, covering hot coffee, hot milk drinks, iced drinks and Cold Brew. Cold brew uses Cold Extraction Technology, which De'Longhi says makes it in under 5 minutes.
Two LatteCrema carafes are supplied: Hot for lattes and cappuccinos, Cool for frothing cold milk for iced drinks.
There are 4 user profiles, adjustable drink length and strength, and the Coffee Link app with Bean Adapt, remote control and custom recipes.
The machine measures about 26 cm wide, 45 cm deep and 38.5 cm high and weighs 11.3 kg. Maximum cup height is 143 mm, and a 16 oz travel mug is included for the To-Go function.
Ease of use is the most common praise among UK buyers: one-touch selection, step-by-step on-screen guidance and quick setup.
Many reviewers praise the coffee quality and taste. Several had upgraded from older De'Longhi, pod or other bean-to-cup machines.
Reviewers value the wide range of hot and cold drinks and being able to save favourites per user profile.
Users often praise the milk foam and the convenience of the carafe, and describe cleaning and routine maintenance as easy, helped by on-screen prompts.
A minority of reviewers find coffee or hot milk only lukewarm even on the highest setting, especially milk-heavy drinks such as latte macchiato.
Several reviewers report fiddly Wi-Fi or app pairing. Others point out that the machine rinses when it starts, so remote brewing from another room is of limited use.
Some buyers found the iced and cold-milk drinks disappointing, describing room-temperature frothed milk or lumpy cold milk.
Some reviewers note high water use and wasteful initial setup. They also say the water tank and grounds/drip containers need frequent emptying, and one says the drip tray has no visible full indicator.
Two UK reviewers describe breakdowns that needed repair, one after 4 months. This small sample cannot establish a failure rate, and long-term reliability data were not available.
UK retailers listed it between £930 (AO, Amazon marketplace) and £999.99 (De'Longhi UK, Currys) on 26 October 2026.
Which? has lab-tested this model, but its score and verdict are behind a paywall. The alternatives Which? suggests (Magnifica Plus, Magnifica Start, Sage Barista Pro) cost considerably less.
Argos, John Lewis and De'Longhi state a 2-year guarantee as standard. Argos's Q&A says the machine is for domestic use only and business use voids the warranty.
This is one of the dearer De'Longhi bean-to-cup machines. It mainly suits buyers who want iced and cold-brew drinks, multiple user profiles and app control; for hot drinks only, cheaper De'Longhi models cover the basics.

UK owners mostly describe the Eletta Explore as very easy to use, with clear on-screen guidance, good coffee, and a wide choice of hot and iced drinks that can be saved per user profile. The milk foam, the removable carafe and the low-effort cleaning are frequent highlights, and several buyers upgraded from older De'Longhi or pod machines and are pleased. The main complaints concern drink temperature: some find coffee or milk lukewarm even on the hottest setting. Others mention fiddly Wi-Fi/app pairing, an automatic rinse that limits remote brewing, iced milk drinks that disappoint, and frequent emptying of the tank and containers. Two owners report breakdowns that needed repair.

I’m very disappointed in this machines, coffee is barely warm (I have it on highest temp setting) .The cold coffee setting is useless, turns the coffee lumpy, I’ve try full fat, skimmed and oat milk, no difference in outcome. Again on hot milk only it’s barely warm, if I could return it I would!

I find that the hot milk isn’t very hot and despite making my coffee hotter I have a lukewarm drink that needs to be consumed immediately. Have to microwave it to get hot hotter as there is no way to increase the temp of the milk. …

It’s a good unit - provides a consistent coffee. … Our low score though comes from it being in the repair store now for two weeks (and it’s not even 2 yrs old). …

This machine makes a good coffee and a good choice of coffees. It is easy to use once you have set it up, setup however is painful and wasteful. I used a lot of water and coffee on setup which had to be disposed of. Wasteful! …

The best coffee machine I've ever had & I particularly like the enclosed milk frother. It would be nice to be able to increase the temperature of the coffee a little more, but it's still a decent coffee.

The machine is a nice pice of equipment, easy to use and makes your perfect coffee or any of the other choices of drink. think the only thing that is slightly annoying is the cleaning prior to making your coffee, obviously this makes it difficult to make your coffee remotely as it will go through the cleaning process 1st so doesnt really work if you want to wake up to a. brew. …

Love my new delonghi Eletta Explore, the coffee is amazing and so easy to use, the machine practically tells you what to do, the only fault I've got is with latte macchiato is a bit cold where it uses a lot of milk but the flat white and Cappuccinos are amazing…

It broke after 4 months and cost a lot, poor quality. The coffee machine just come back after repair and sill has the same problem.
K*** 4/5 24 July 2026 Argos
Bought after originally buying a gaggia machine and so glad I did. Makes a lovely espresso, Americano etc … The bean adapt feature on the app is extremely useful to help dial in the best settings, but I have removed a star over all as the app is a nightmare to setup (took 5 tries), but it’s worth it in the end. … Customising of drinks could be easier as to get exact amounts you have to do it via the app which is a pain. …

Best coffee machine ever! Wake each morning excited to make the best brew ever. It’s an absolute pleasure to use & so many options to enjoy different drinks not just traditional coffee. Highly recommend this machine well worth the cost wish we’d bought it sooner.

Never had a 'Bean to Cup' machine before but finally took the plunge and I am glad I did with this machine. It's so easy to use - select your drink and press the screen and away you go. So many different options to choose from. Being able to use a travel mug as well (which it comes with) is a bonus. It's saved me a trip to the petrol station in a morning! …

Love our new coffee machine, it's easy to use, easy to clean and easy to replace the water filter. The profiles and customisations of drinks is pretty simple and easy to follow, and you can save your favourites which is really helpful for that first coffee of the day when half asleep as in just two button presses you have coffee. …

Great coffee, looks the part … Really impressed with the Eletta Explore. Coffee quality is excellent and the range of drinks, especially the iced options, is a real standout. … Easy to use, feels properly premium, and looks great on the worktop. We absolutely love this coffee machine, it’s so simple to operate a child could make a perfect cup of coffee! Cleaning is completely effortless, the machine tells you when and how to clean it in simple and clear on screen instructions. I prefer the aesthetics of our old Delonghi coffee machine but this machine definitely makes a great coffee with ease.

I bought this as an upgrade to my previous Delonghi Coffee machine. I wanted a machine with the milk frother attached. I was a bit worried that the coffee would not be hot enough for me as I like my drinks hot,but I altered the temperature of the coffee & it’s great. The machine was really easy to set up & I even managed to set up the app which I don’t really use but there if I ever want to. …

The De'Longhi Eletta Explore is an excellent machine. Have made 56 cups so far, with Americano, Latte and Latte macchiato. … Easy to set up, the machine gives you step by step instructions. … So far it's an excellent buy although the price is high. I would definitely recommend De'Longhi.

Simply the best coffee machine that brews both hot and cold. Very easy to use, the grinder is a bit noisy, but this is the same across all delonghi machines. Milk foam is really impressive.

This coffee machine is absolutely a game changer. I never thought I can prepare at home professional coffee with plenty of choice. Latte, cappuccino, expresso, Americano, just name it and its ready in a few minutes. Easy to operate and personalised. Freshly prepared from coffee beans. Absolutely love it!

After a few set up issues the machine works perfectly and produces some great coffees

The De'Longhi Eletta Explore is a versatile super-automatic coffee machine capable of making quality espresso, hot and cold milk beverages, and genuine cold brew. It offers extensive beverage customisation, generous travel mug clearance, and a responsive colour touchscreen interface. However, the companion mobile application is slow, and automatic rinse cycles make remote brewing somewhat impractical.
YouTube · Review
The De'Longhi Eletta Explore is a high-performing automatic bean-to-cup coffee machine that produces exceptional espresso quality and excellent milk texture. It boasts an intuitive touchscreen interface and dual carafes for hot and cold milk drinks. However, setting up Bean Adapt requires the mobile app, and the cold espresso functions brew hot coffee directly over ice.
YouTube · Review
The De'Longhi Eletta Explore is a feature-rich bean-to-cup machine capable of making fantastic hot and cold coffees, with versatile customisation options and a handy travel mug feature. However, it takes up a lot of worktop space, goes through water quickly due to frequent rinsing cycles, and can be slow and noisy to get started. It is an excellent choice if you specifically want cold brew capabilities and commute-friendly coffee options.
YouTube · Review
The De'Longhi Eletta Explore is a versatile super-automatic coffee machine capable of producing both hot and cold brew beverages. It comes comprehensively equipped with accessories, user profile options, and Bean Adapt technology to dial in beans easily. It is an ideal option for households looking for cafe-style coffee at home with minimal effort and easy automated cleaning.
