The Krups Vertuo Up (XN9408G0) is a slim Nespresso Vertuo pod machine. It takes Vertuo capsules only and has no milk frother. It heats up in about three seconds, brews seven cup sizes and adds a dedicated button for iced or milky Coffee Creations, with app control over Wi-Fi. Owners mainly praise the coffee's taste, crema and heat, the narrow design and the simple one-button use. The common drawbacks are brewing noise, wet coffee dregs in the used-pod container (with a few leak reports), and pods that cost more and are harder to find than generic capsules. It is also 49 cm deep with the tank behind. It suits people who want quick, consistent black or iced coffee from a narrow machine and are happy to buy Nespresso pods online. Long-term reliability is not yet established for this 2026 model.
Strengths
Coffee quality: owners repeatedly praise the rich taste, crema and hot coffee.
Quick start and wide choice: 3-second heat-up and seven cup sizes from ristretto to carafe.
A dedicated Coffee Creations button makes iced and milk-based drinks easy, and reviewers rate it well.
Show all (4)
Only 12 cm wide, with a tank that can sit behind or beside the machine; owners like the look and the easy operation.
Things to consider
Several owners report coffee dregs or water in the used-pod container, messy emptying or leaks.
Noticeably noisy while brewing, according to T3 and many owners.
Takes Vertuo capsules only; pods are pricier than generic capsules and seldom sold in supermarkets.
Show all (6)
No milk frother; milk drinks need an extra Aeroccino or similar.
49 cm deep with the tank at the back; some owners found it long for their worktop or the cable short.
Setup relies on the Nespresso app and Wi-Fi, which some found fiddly; a few early units failed.
Who is it for, and who is it not for?
Good for
Households wanting fast, consistent espresso to mug-sized black coffee and iced coffee with minimal effort.
Narrow worktop spaces where width matters more than depth.
May not suit
Anyone wanting cheap or supermarket-bought capsules, or the option to use ground coffee.
In the UK the black Krups-made Vertuo Up is sold as XN9408G0 (EAN 3045380404397) at Amazon, Currys, Argos and John Lewis. Argos and John Lewis show retailer model number 1510003029.
A dedicated Coffee Creations button brews a concentrated coffee for iced or milky drinks. T3's tester found it kept the depth of flavour without bitterness, and several owners praise the iced coffee.
Coffee taste is the most common praise across UK retailers. Owners mention rich crema and coffee-shop flavour, and several say the coffee comes out hotter than on earlier Nespresso machines.
Owners often praise the slim, stylish design and easy one-button operation. Several say the front-access used-pod drawer is easier than on older Vertuo machines.
Several owners report coffee dregs or water collecting in the used-pod container and drip tray, making emptying messy. A few report outright leaks and returned the machine. Most of these complaints are from John Lewis buyers.
The machine takes only Vertuo capsules. Owners and T3 note the pods are relatively costly, have no generic alternatives and are rarely found in supermarkets, so most buyers order online from Nespresso.
Setup involves the Nespresso Smart app and Wi-Fi. Some owners found it fiddly or had connection or password errors, while others value app control of temperature and cup size.
A few owners found the machine long for their worktop, the power cable short, or the lever awkward under wall cupboards, needing it pulled forward to use.
Much of the visible praise comes from incentivised testers: Home Tester Club reviews at Argos and Currys, and Nespresso-syndicated incentivised reviews at John Lewis. Organic buyer reviews contain proportionally more complaints about mess and leaks.

Owners mostly praise the coffee itself: rich, smooth, with good crema and served hotter than older Nespresso machines. They also like the slim look, the quick start and the simple one-button use. The iced Coffee Creations button and app control of cup size and temperature are popular extras. The main complaints are noise while brewing, and coffee dregs or water collecting in the used-pod container, which makes emptying messy. A handful of buyers had leaks or units that failed early. Many find Vertuo pods expensive and hard to buy outside Nespresso, and some say the machine is long for small worktops or fiddly to set up through the app. Much of the most enthusiastic feedback comes from free-trial testers.

I bought this machine 2 weeks ago to replace my last machine. This one is awful. Every time I empty the used pods the containers are full of dregs of coffee. Today as I was emptying them it dripped coffee all over me. I really don't like the machine at all. I never had this problem with my old machine. I wish I'd never bought it!

A bit disappointed that capsules to go with the machine cannot be bought at our local supermarket and this was not explained.

Makes a worse cup than previous models.

Nespresso vertuo UP coffee machine is a delight to use. It is well made and has an excellent appearance. The coffee it produces is hot of which I am a great fan. I upgraded from the Nespresso Next machine which was good but the operation of opening the pushing lever lid was for me a bit difficult. On the UP machine it is straight forward in that you only need to lift a flap. …

We have had a range of nespresso virtuo machines over the years and they have been great but the two up machines we’ve had have stopped working within a very short while. We’ve followed all the procedures outlined by nespresso but it has not fixed the fault😢
The latest machine, has stopped working within three weeks of purchase so I shall return it and go back to another style nespresso machine………… the coffee when the machine does work is great though!!!!!!

Coffee quality does not equal my basic model. Frustrating “failure” by iPhone control of machine claiming invalid password etc which was not valid as I have communicating with Nespresso fault free for years.

Love the Nespresso Vertuo Up! Fast, easy to use, sleek design, and consistently great-tasting coffee with rich crema. Perfect for quick mornings and a variety of cup sizes. Highly recommend!

Tried to set up this new machine today and it leaks!

Easy to use & makes a lovely Nespresso coffee. The Coffee Creations mode is a good feature.

Upgraded to new machine. Very stylish and great product came with free mug and selection of coffees.

Sending this back - it leaks constantly. The water tank seal is not perfect, so removing it to top up the water always results in *some* water on the worktop. However, the real problem is internal - when I went to empty out the used pods after finding a much larger pool of water this morning, they were swimming. Not fit for purpose.

I bought this to replace my last machine but it's highly disappointing. The functionality of emptying the used capsules is messy and water is in all 3 compartments. Makes cleaning it a real chore. Wish I hadn't bothered.

Love this machine!! I've had my old one for 6 years and this is clearly improved. So quiet, faster, and more sleek looking. The cost of pods lets it down as you can only purchase directly but the coffee is much superior!

I have been trying the Nespresso coffee machine for a couple weeks now. I am very very impressed. It is very thin in size so could work with kitchens with less counter space. The machine itself is very quiet unlike many other pod coffee machines. The coffee machine brews very delicious coffee and the range of types of pods you can get is great. It has an iced coffee mode also which is perfect for this weather

Pros: the drinks are very good quality, the machine looks nice, doesn't take up too much space, heats up very quickly, can adjust settings on an app, good crema!
Cons: noisy, water collects in the tray and you can only use the official pods which are quite costly to replace. OK for a treat though!

Easy on the eye but not my cup of tea.
I want a nice tasty coffee with ease and not fuss, for me the set up of the machine took longer than expected. The machine is very slender but long, didn’t suit my old kitchen, felt like an imposter.

I’ve been pleasantly surprised with the Nespresso Vertuo Up overall. It looks sleek doesn’t take up too much room on my kitchen worktops. The coffee comes out consistently, the pod variety is great if you like switching between different strengths and sizes. It also heats up quickly which is great for busy mornings. The only one downside is how noisy the machine is when pouring, which is why I’m only giving the 4 stars and not 5. …

Exceptional machine ease of use is second to none, and so easy to clean and descale. I would highly recommend this machine.

Leaves a lot of liquid in pods, quite messy when emptying pod bin

… Only reason for 4 stars the machine is quite long and the electric not long enough to put it in position I would like in my kitchen. My friends are also impressed.

… The machine is very loud.. if you're a less noise person in the morning, be warned, this is not a quiet machine. …

… The first Vetuo Up was returned faulty, but replaced immediatly. Now up and runing and producing good coffee as they seem to have cured one fault with all previous Vertuo machine in that it now produces a reasonable crema rather than foam. Nespresso unfortunatly still needs to do some further modification, this machine seems to produce a fair amount of over flow which ends up in the maintainace tray, and unlike previous models you do not get any form of indication the you shoul empty the used capsule tray.

The best nespresso yet and makes properly HOT coffee. As well as iced coffee. £100 of free coffee offer was excellent too. No complaints
Customer3/52026-05CurrysHome Tester Club review (Feefo)
Nespresso Vertuo looks sleek and modern at first, but the build quality feels a bit cheap light plastic material for its price. Performance is quite good. It makes coffee quick and hotter to compare with previous old models. It’s very easy to use for any age. Has additional option to connect through wi-Fi. …

… Unlike our others, the coffee seemed to stay hotter for longer and seemed to brew quicker as well. If you don’t have a smart phone, then this isn’t going to work for you as it needs to be connected to the app as well as your wifi but it looks sleek and stylish in the kitchen and is really easy to use. I also like that in order to remove the used pods you just pull the front to get access to the drawer …

NEW Nespresso VertuoUp Machine -PROS AND CONS
The Nespresso Vertuo Up is praised for its rapid heat-up time, sleek compact design, and handy coffee creations button for concentrated brewing. However, it suffers from a significant flaw where water accumulates messily in the pod tray. Consequently, the reviewer feels its $229 price tag is too steep given the required maintenance.
Nespresso Vertuo Up Review: 3 NEW FEATURES that makes it different
The Nespresso Vertuo Up introduces key upgrades over older Vertuo models, most notably a dedicated Coffee Creations button to brew concentrated shots for milk drinks and iced recipes. It also provides three brewing temperature options via the companion app and incorporates user-friendly hardware updates like an easy lever mechanism and larger used-capsule container.
Delonghi Nespresso Vertuo UP : it's new & Pricey, so, Worth it?
The Nespresso Vertuo Up is a sleek, user-friendly pod coffee machine offering an ultra-fast three-second heat-up time and seven drink sizes, including carafe. Although temperature customisation and the Coffee Creations mode showed little real-world difference in testing, its quiet operation, large repositionable water reservoir, and app connectivity make it an appealing upgrade.
Nespresso Vertuo Up Review: Vertuo Up vs Pop — Is the Upgrade Actually Worth It? #nespresso
The Nespresso Vertuo Up brings noticeable improvements over the Vertuo Pop, including ultra-fast heating, a rotating water tank, dedicated setting buttons, and a handy quick rinse function. However, the build feels predominantly plastic with imperfect panel gaps, and it costs around twice as much as the Pop despite delivering virtually identical coffee flavour. It is a convenient and consistent machine for busy mornings, though somewhat expensive for what it offers.
