The L'OR Barista Absolu LM9512/60 is a compact, black-coffee-only pod machine that takes L'OR XXL double capsules as well as standard L'OR Espresso and Nespresso Original-compatible pods.
The L'OR Barista Absolu LM9512/60 is a compact, black-coffee-only pod machine that takes L'OR XXL double capsules as well as standard L'OR Espresso and Nespresso Original-compatible pods. It adds an iced-coffee mode, an Intensity Boost button and a water tank that can sit behind or beside the machine. Owners praise the taste, ease of use, quick heat-up and fairly quiet operation. Weak points are a plastic, somewhat flimsy drip tray, no milk frother, and cup sizes that follow the capsule. One early failure has been reported, and long-term reliability is not yet established. It suits pod users who want cheaper capsule choice and iced drinks in a tight space; it is not for anyone who wants milk drinks from the machine.
Strengths
Wide capsule choice: L'OR XXL, L'OR Espresso and Nespresso Original-compatible pods, with automatic size recognition.
Owners rate the coffee highly and find it easy to use, quick to heat and easy to clean.
Movable 1.2 L tank fits shallow or awkward worktops.
Show all (4)
Iced coffee mode and Intensity Boost add variety beyond standard espresso and lungo.
Things to consider
No milk frother; milky drinks need a separate frother.
Plastic build; some find the drip tray and capsule area flimsy or small.
Long-term reliability unproven; one owner reports failure to pierce pods within four months.
Show all (4)
Cup volume depends on capsule size; larger mugs need XXL pods, and changing the volume isn't well explained in the instructions.
Who is it for, and who is it not for?
Good for
Espresso and lungo drinkers who want to switch between L'OR and cheaper Nespresso-compatible pods.
Small kitchens where a side-mounted water tank helps.
People who want iced coffee at home without a separate machine.
May not suit
Anyone who wants lattes or cappuccinos from the machine itself.
Heavy users who refill often and want a larger tank.
LM9512/60 is the Deep Black L'OR BARISTA Absolu, sold in the UK by Philips, Amazon.co.uk, Currys, John Lewis and L'OR's own shop; Satin White (LM9512/00) and Grey (LM9512/20) are colour versions of the same machine.
Enjoy Over Ice brews at a lower temperature for up to 6 iced recipes, and an Intensity Boost button lengthens extraction for a stronger cup; Philips quotes 18 hot and iced creations.
One reviewer found the water tank too small for their use and the instructions missing guidance on personalising flow volume; another called the capacity large.
The Philips UK shop reviews are all marked as collected in a promotion and most are syndicated Dutch reviews, so they are likely to be more positive than unprompted reviews.
At the time of checking, Amazon.co.uk, Currys and John Lewis listed the Deep Black at a discounted price well below L'OR's own shop and the earlier list price.
Cup volume follows the capsule: a reviewer reports about 120 ml from L-size pods and needing XXL pods for about 250 ml; Currys lists 25, 40, 110 and 220 ml settings.

Owners commonly enjoy the coffee and find everyday preparation straightforward. Capsule flexibility, larger coffee options and the iced-coffee function are appreciated, while the repositionable water tank helps some fit the machine into their kitchen. The main reservation is the lightweight plastic construction: some describe the tray, front or water tank as flimsy. Experiences of kitchen fit vary, with a complaint about the space required. Other concerns include unclear volume-setting instructions, frequent refilling for heavier use and a report of capsule-piercing failure after a few months.

This machine works well using original nespresso pods. Water tank is easy to place either side or at the back which is usefull for my available space . Produces good hot coffee. The reason I did not give 5 stars is that being plastic the collection section and drip tray are a little flimsy but otherwise good value for money.

Had older L'or machine which we loved but the added feature of cold coffee was a changer for us. So we can now do proper ice coffee without boiling it.

Avoid. Wish I see the negative reviews 1st. Lasted under 4 months, started with noise, which is fuevto it failing to pierce pods. Wasted a lot of not cheap XXL pods.…

Only 4 days in, but so far great coffee, quick, and not too noisy. Main gripe is no instructions given on how to personalise the flow volume, found this is possible, and how to do it on you tube. I find that for my use the water tank volume is pathetic, why dont they offer a larger, perhaps horse shoe shaped one as an accessory. Will update after more use

Excellent product. We have been using this for a month now. It works very well and has good features like intensity boost or ice cold. The volume it disperses is based on the size of the pods. If you use L size pods, it will give around 120 ml of coffee. If you want 250 ml of coffee, you will have to use XXL size pods.

The machine looks nice and works well, but it occupies to much space for a capsule machine.

I have been using this coffee machine for a few weeks now and I honestly am really happy with it. It looks super sleek in the kitchen and I have had so many compliments because of it. The coffee machine is easy to use with the capsules and it makes great coffee every time. It is not too bad to clean, as I thought it would be really difficult but it is actually really easy. I am really happy with it and would recommend it to anyone looking for a new machine.

Happy with machine on the whole
Would have preferred it the water holder came off the base for easy emptying

Much better and cheaper than my previous well known brand, makes nice hot coffee, easy to use, and like the option for iced coffee, and ability to use more than one sized pod. Need a separate frother but already had one.

Although this machine looks really nice, and comes with some sample pods, the production quality is extremely flimsy. The front in particular is very thin plastic, and is not at all secure. The connection between the machine and water tank, similarly, is very loose, and leaves me with no confidence that it won't leak all over the place.

Brilliant coffee machine. Very easy to use . We are enjoying all the different coffees. Also purchased a milk frother which makes the perfect cappuccino combined with the lor coffee pods.
