The De'Longhi-made Nespresso CitiZ EN167.B is a slim, retro-styled capsule machine for Nespresso Original pods. It makes espresso and lungo at the touch of two programmable buttons, has a 1 litre tank and heats up in about 25 seconds. Owners praise how simple it is to use and clean, the coffee quality and the way it fits narrow worktops, and many are buying it again to replace an older CitiZ. The trade-offs: it has no milk frother or hot-water function and only two cup sizes. Recent owners often call it noisy and prone to vibration, some find the coffee not hot enough, and a few report early pump faults. It suits people who want quick black coffee from Nespresso Original pods in a compact, good-looking machine. Milk drinkers should look at the CitiZ & Milk instead. No independent long-term reliability data was found.

What the features mean in everyday use.
The EN167.B is a 1260 W Nespresso Original capsule machine with a 1 l removable water tank, a 19 bar pump and a thermoblock heater.
De'Longhi and Nespresso both claim a 25-second heat-up time.
There are only two programmable cup sizes, Espresso (40 ml) and Lungo (110 ml), with automatic flow stop. There is no milk system, hot water outlet or display.
The machine is 130 mm wide, 372 mm deep and 278 mm high, so it is narrow but fairly deep.
UK retailers and De'Longhi UK include a 2-year manufacturer guarantee for domestic use.
Ease of use and easy cleaning are the most commonly praised points in UK store reviews.
Applies to the model family
Many buyers praise the coffee quality, the crema and the range of Nespresso pods available.
Applies to the model family
Reviewers often describe the machine as slim, compact and stylish, and as suiting small kitchens.
Applies to the model family
Several John Lewis reviewers say the current machine is loud and vibrates when brewing, so the cup can move on the metal tray. Some say it is noisier than their earlier CitiZ.
Applies to the model family
A minority of reviewers find the coffee not hot enough, especially with added milk or cream. Others say the temperature is fine.
Applies to the model family
A few reviewers report early faults: the pump stopped pushing water through pods after 28 days, a failure after six months, and poor pouring after two months that needed a repair. Several others say earlier CitiZ machines lasted 6-13 years.
A noticeable number of buyers are replacing an older CitiZ with the same model, citing long service from the previous machine.
Applies to the model family
One owner explains that a few drops falling into the drip tray during heat-up are normal and not a leak.
Store ratings are not specific to the black EN167.B. Amazon and Argos combine black and white, and John Lewis shares one review pool with the CitiZ & Milk EN267.
Applies to the model family
Expert Reviews tested the CitiZ design (not specifically the De'Longhi EN167.B). It found solid build quality, a small footprint and easy use, but called it pricey for a basic machine with only two drink sizes and no milk option.
Applies to the model family
UK prices clustered around £149 at Currys, John Lewis, De'Longhi UK and Argos. Amazon UK listed it at £139.19 through a third-party seller but was temporarily out of stock.

UK owners mostly describe the CitiZ as a simple, dependable everyday espresso and lungo maker. They like how easy it is to use and clean, its slim and stylish look, and the coffee quality and choice of pods. Many are repeat buyers replacing an earlier CitiZ that lasted years. The most common complaint is noise and vibration while brewing: some say the cup can shuffle on the metal tray and that the newer unit is louder than older ones. A smaller group find the coffee not hot enough, especially with milk. A handful report the pump failing within weeks or months, usually resolved by refund or repair. Several think it is good value, while one independent review felt it was pricey for a basic two-button machine.
Summarised from 118 reviews; 6 reviews about delivery, packaging or the seller were left out. The summary is drawn from opinions that recur in the reviews read; each theme shows how many reviews mention it. These counts are not a rate and do not apply to every unit.
118 unique text reviews: John Lewis API newest pages 1-4 (80, deduped by review id); Currys-merchant Feefo entries (20 with text; 6 rating-only EN167.B entries excluded); Argos newest 10; Amazon UK top 8. Theme counts are manual tallies. Amazon and Argos samples had no low-rated text. ratings_total sums Amazon, Argos and Currys, excluding John Lewis's pool shared with the EN267.

I got one of these last year, and it's still working perfectly! It's robustly built and has a good, slim design which will neatly fit into narrower spaces. Pulls a nice coffee with a bit of crema too.

This is our 3rd Citiz machine. The other two lasted more than 6 years each with daily multiple uses, have been on holiday with us and been really reliable. The only downside is that, over time, it becomes harder and harder to keep it fully clean (plastic parts degrade with regular use) hence needing replacement eventually as water no longer runs clear.…

This is my third machine, over the years and it's mostly lovely but so much vibration, have to hold cup or it would fall off. Sounds like a road drill and shakes like one.

Bought this to replace the same product that had failed after just over 2 years. Previous product while failing after a short life and when just out of warranty operated quietly and made good coffee this unit as a replacement while still making good coffee is extremely noisy in operation exceeding 75 decibels when in use, and operation of the mechanisms is not as smooth.…

Excellent coffee. Not a upmarket machine but for every day use for espresso/lungo using capsules it’s just fine. Very good value for money. Very compact which is useful in a smaller kitchen where surfaces are at a premium. Easy to keep clean.

The Nespresso CitiZ by De'Longhi is a fast and user-friendly capsule machine that uses Nespresso Original pods, featuring a quick 25-second heat-up time and reliable 19-bar extraction. It offers a larger 1-litre water tank and container capacity than smaller pod models, though its shallow drip tray and rear-positioned water reservoir can be somewhat inconvenient. It is an ideal option for anyone seeking quick, consistent espresso and lungo drinks with minimal fuss.
