The De'Longhi Piccolo XS (EDG210) is a small, very affordable Nescafé Dolce Gusto pod machine with a 15-bar pump, 0.8-litre tank and a manual hot/cold lever.
The De'Longhi Piccolo XS (EDG210) is a small, very affordable Nescafé Dolce Gusto pod machine with a 15-bar pump, 0.8-litre tank and a manual hot/cold lever. Owners like its low price, compact footprint, ease of use and the drinks it makes, including with third-party pods. Its limits come from the basic design: there is no automatic stop, so you dose each drink by hand and have to stay with the cup, it is fairly noisy, clearance suits small cups rather than tall latte glasses, and used pods should be removed straight away to avoid jamming. Some buyers report early faults, and independent long-term reliability data is not available. It suits single users or small kitchens wanting cheap, simple pod coffee; those who want hands-free dosing or milk frothing should look at higher Dolce Gusto models.
Strengths
Low price: around £29-£30 at major UK retailers, often with pod bundles.
Compact (about 14 cm wide, 2 kg) and easy to fit in small kitchens.
Simple to use and clean, with hot and cold drinks from a single lever.

Users like the coffee and pod drinks, and say third-party pods work.
Things to consider
No automatic stop: you must watch the cup and stop the flow by hand.
Noisy while pumping, according to recurring reviews.
Limited cup clearance; tall latte glasses may not fit.
Show all (5)
Used pods can jam in the holder if left in after brewing.
Some reports of early failures and a lighter build than older models; warranty length is stated differently by retailers.
Who is it for, and who is it not for?
Good for
Single users or small households wanting cheap, quick pod coffee and hot chocolate.
Small kitchens, offices or student rooms with little counter space.
May not suit
People who want to walk away while a drink brews or want programmable cup sizes.
Those who drink from tall latte glasses or want a quiet machine.
The Piccolo XS is sold in the UK under EDG210 with colour suffixes: EDG210.B (black), EDG210.WB (white), EDG210.BGY (black/grey), EDG210.GY (Arctic Grey), EDG210.A (black, Amazon exclusive) and EDG210.R (red). Specifications are the same across colours.
Drinks are dosed with a manual lever for hot or cold water; the machine does not stop the flow by itself, so the user has to watch the cup and move the lever back.
Some Currys reviewers report that a used pod left in the holder can stick fast and be very hard to remove, so the pod should be taken out straight after brewing.
A minority of reviews report early failures (reduced flow, not switching on, leaking) within weeks or months; some long-time owners say newer units feel lighter or less sturdy than older Piccolo machines. Long-term reliability data was not available.
At the time of checking, major UK retailers listed it around £29-£30 (Amazon, Argos, Currys, De'Longhi UK), well below the £54.99 RRP shown by De'Longhi and Amazon.
Lacking milk frothing, programmable volumes and auto-stop, it suits buyers who want a cheap, simple pod machine more than those wanting convenience features.

How was this summary made?
Summarised from 105 reviews. The summary is drawn from opinions that recur in the reviews read; each theme shows how many reviews mention it. These counts are not a rate and do not apply to every unit.
Unique text reviews (author+date+text): Currys/Feefo 78 of 97 entries (19 rating-only excluded); Amazon.co.uk 17 UK reviews from s7 and s8 (s9 duplicates s7); Argos 10 newest from s5 (s6 duplicates). Theme counts tallied by hand per store and summed. Amazon and Argos AI summaries used only as cross-checks; Amazon's names durability as the main negative, matching the sample.

This is a very good coffee machine. Easy to use the coffee temperature is just right, it looks very good. It makes an enjoyable cup of coffee and it was value for money. I would recommend it to anyone.

This worked great from the day it arrived on 30th August right up to 30th September when the flow reduced to a dribble. So, that's a usable lifetime of 1 month, according to my maths.

My main criticism is that I wish it had an automatic cut-off rather than having to stop the water manually, although at this price I can’t complain too much. It is also fairly loud when running and can vibrate a little, but neither has bothered me enough to detract from using it every day.

Makes great coffee but it has a manual cut off for your coffee so you can't leave it while it's making a cup of coffee which seems bonkers and it also has no on/off switch, you just slide the capsule holder out to switch it on which is confusing at first. But for the price it is a great machine with lots of generic capsules available.

Definitely not as sturdy as the original but half the price of the original. No side button like the original but a side light turns green to tell you the unit is ready to go. Love the fact it has a simple manual lever for hot or cold drinks. …

I also like how cute it is and how little space it takes up on the counter - easy to refill the water reservoir, quick to warm up, and you can choose your volume based on when you push the slider back to off - just don't walk away or it'll overflow the cup! Does drip a tiny bit after you turn it off so leave the cup there for a minute after stopping it. …

It's a good machine, it makes good cappuccinos, espressos, and especially good lattes for me.

After my purchase I thought that this model was a suitable replacement for my old bigger machine. But after a few days whenever a dolce gusto pod was used it leaked out all over the pod holder which meant I had to keep rinsing it. …

The only thing I would say don’t forget to take the pod out after use or it will fuse in to holder and machine but overall great little machine loads of different pods to choose from great value for money

Very good machine easy to use and clean only down side is it does not automatically shut off so you need to watch out for that. The coffee choice is great and the taste is very very nice, I now have 3 !!!

This is the second coffee machine I have had they worked for a few weeks and then they just would not switch on or pump any water out. I have now gone back to a Bosch coffee machine.

Not as good as previous dolce gusto which I had for 4 years then it started leaking. flimsy and noisy. Disappointing but was on offer so can't complain. Won't last long.
A***1/56 February 2026CurrysCurrys black EDG210B
These are a poor design. Unless you remove the pod immediatley after use it, it locks the pod inside and is impossible to remove other than with brute force (prising the pod holder out with a screwdriver and wrecking it in the process). I remember buying one several years ago and had exactly the same problem. You *have* to remember to remove it straight after use. If you can't do that, avoid this completely.
