The De'Longhi Genio S Plus (EDG315.B) is a compact, automatic NESCAFÉ Dolce Gusto pod machine with a 15-bar pump and a 0.8 L tank. Compared with basic Dolce Gusto models, it adds Espresso Boost, hot or cold temperature control, an XL cup of up to 300 ml and a descaling alert. Owners mainly praise how easy it is to use, the hot, tasty drinks and the small footprint. The most common complaint is the small water tank, and a few mention messy pods or descaling quirks. It suits Dolce Gusto fans who want more control than an entry-level machine. It is less suited to anyone who wants ground coffee, fresh milk frothing or large volumes. No independent UK lab test was available, and long-term durability evidence is limited to a few owner reports.
Strengths
Very simple one-touch operation with automatic stop; this is the most common praise in owner reviews.
More drink control than basic Dolce Gusto machines: Espresso Boost, hot/cold selection and an XL cup of up to 300 ml.
Compact (27.3 x 12.1 x 27.6 cm, about 2 kg), which owners say suits small kitchens.
Show all (5)
Descaling alert and 1-minute eco auto-off; owners mention the alert as a useful feature.
2-year manufacturer warranty, and widely discounted below its list price at major UK retailers.
Things to consider
0.8 L water tank needs frequent refills; owners raise this repeatedly.
Locked to Dolce Gusto pods, with no hot-water-only function and no milk frother.
Isolated reports of pods leaking, a descale light that won't reset and a unit failing within 18 months.

Retailers publish conflicting power and size figures, so check the manufacturer's data if space or power draw matters.
Who is it for, and who is it not for?
Good for
Households that already use Dolce Gusto pods and want an upgrade with temperature, strength and cup-size control.
Small kitchens or offices where counter space is tight and only a few drinks are made at a time.
People who want minimal fuss and clean-up, since grounds stay in the pod.
May not suit
Anyone wanting to use ground coffee, other pod systems or fresh milk frothing.
Busy households making many drinks in a row, given the small tank.
De'Longhi/Nescafé say the Genio S Plus offers Espresso Boost (pre-wetting for a more intense espresso), temperature control for hot or cold drinks, and an XL function for cups up to 300 ml. Volume is set on an LED control ring.
The on/off button turns orange when the machine needs descaling. Eco mode switches the machine off after one minute of inactivity; the De'Longhi GB page says 5 minutes after the last brew instead.
Ease of use is the most common praise in the sampled Argos and Dolce Gusto UK reviews. Owners describe setting the volume to match the pod, choosing hot or cold, and letting the machine stop by itself.
One former Tassimo owner reports messy, leaking pods and odd behaviour when the volume dial was moved by accident. They felt the temperature and volume options added little for their use.
Isolated reviews report a machine that did not last beyond 18 months and a descale light that stayed on after the recommended descaling procedure. A sample this small cannot show a failure rate.
Power ratings differ between sources: 1500 W from the manufacturer, 1600 W from Argos and AO, 1400 W from Currys. Several retailers list the boxed size (about 32.7 x 14.3 x 32.6 cm) as the product size.
UK retail prices checked on 23 October 2026 were about £74–£75 at AO, Argos and Currys. Dolce Gusto UK and De'Longhi-linked list prices are around £99.99, so the machine is usually bought on discount.

Owners mostly praise how simple the Genio S Plus is: put in a pod, set the volume to the pod's markings, pick hot or cold, and the machine stops by itself. Many say the drinks are tasty and hot, and several like the small footprint and the descaling alert. People upgrading from older Dolce Gusto or basic machines value the XL and hot/cold options. The main complaint is the small water tank. A former Tassimo owner found the pods messy and the extra settings of little use. Isolated reviews mention a unit that did not last beyond 18 months and a descale light that would not reset.

How was this summary made?
Summarised from 20 reviews; 1 reviews about delivery, packaging or the seller were left out. The summary is drawn from opinions that recur in the reviews read; each theme shows how many reviews mention it. These counts are not a rate and do not apply to every unit.
20 distinct reviews, counted by author, date and text: 10 newest on the Argos product page (s3) and 10 on page 1 of Dolce Gusto UK (s1, also in JSON-LD). One Argos review with no product content was left out of the themes. Currys/AO texts were not accessible. The Argos AI summary matches the sample (small tank, messy pods).

Bought this to replace our aged Tassimo machine but sadly disappointed. The water container is very, very small and not always easy to remove. The pods are messy and you have to be careful how you remove them; the Tassimo pods never leaked. Also, it occasionally just does odd things like yesterday when I inadvertently moved the volume dial and it wouldn't let me change it. The expensive extras like heat setting and volume adjustment are not really useful as we just use hot and full amount. Not worth the money.

we are now on our third dolce gusto pod machine, all different, the first two stopped working altogether after approx 2 to 3 months, so we are hoping (with our added insurance this time!) that its third time lucky and this one lasts...

Bought as upgrade from their budget machine, very compact, easy to set up and use. Makes a great cup of coffee. Just set the amount of water to match the lines on the pod choose hot or cold and away you go.

Never having a coffee machine, I'm impressed. So simple and ideal for couple of drinks. A lot cheaper than boiling the kettle.

Bought this to replace my mini me as unfortunately after almost 5 years it decided to die on me. And so far im in love with this machine. The drinks come out piping hot and its a lot smaller and easier to work with. Also my favourite feature is definitely the descale function so you know when to do it. Very impressed.

I love this machine. It makes perfect drinks. You can make the drink just the way you like it - size and taste. It is very easy to use and the descaling alert is just precious.

Very recent purchase, so far no complaints & very easy to use. Would score a 5 but water compartment is just too small.

Nescafe Dolce Gusto Genio S Plus Coffee Machine
The Nescafé Dolce Gusto Genio S Plus is a very compact, versatile pod coffee machine that offers useful features like temperature control and an effective Espresso Boost function. It brews quickly, though the cold drink mode only dispenses lukewarm water and the drip tray fills rapidly due to post-brew dripping. Overall, it is considered one of the best Dolce Gusto machines tested for easy daily coffee making.
